Hello!

Ok, so, I am only one week and a day out BUT I'd lost nearly five pounds since surgery, 10 if you count the five I gained in the hospital (fluid, I'm sure). I was at 291 last night. Just got off the scale, it is 295! Now, I try to consider time of day and retention. What else can it be? I have been having pretty regular (if you can call it that) BMs so I don't think I am backed up. It just made me mad.

Also, yesterday and today, I have not been able to get out and walk like I should be due to bad weather and just being really sluggish (is that normal, too?!?) so could that be it?

I have my first post op tomorrow so of course I will ask these questions but, I like hearing the "vets" opinions, too!

Thanks!!!!

PS: I am NOT changing my ticker!

I think it is just the time....weigh first thing in the am. Or don't get on the scale LOL easier said then done. Ask at your appt I am sure they can help.
Good luck tomorrow!

I am still pre-op so I have no words of wisdom on this. I would say to weigh first thing in the morning (after you pee) and in the nude.

*I think it's cute that you aren't changing the ticker ... if for no other reason than the principle of it

To reduce your stress level, you need to stop weighing so much. I had to learn this early on because I was a slow loser. I lost 12 lbs the first month! Normal body weight can fluctuate during the day. Your 'dry' body weight is first thing in the morning after you get up and peed and before eating/drinking. It also can fluctuate from day to day, so it's better to weigh yourself once a week. Also, you can also gain fluid weight during your period, so it's better not to weigh yourself at all during that week. As long as you're following the rules, you will do fine. We all have gone through the doubt of whether this surgery will work or not. Relax and enjoy your new journey.

I'd totally just try to stay off the scale if you can...(I cant follow my own advice) as long as you are following your plan you will absolutely see a loss especially these first few months.

I'm a week out as well

I have been weighing myself each morning when i wake after my first pee.  this will be ur most accurate weight.

If i weigh myself later in the day or after i've started activity or protein/water...its about 3lbs higher.

So I guess my suggestion is weigh yourself at the same time everyday (if that's the route you choose) with the best time when you wake up after u use the bathroom.

i'm sure vets will say to just stay off the scale !! (easier said then done haha)

You could always just wait until you go to the dr.  I usually get my appointments first thing in the morning after i've peed but before i've had my breakfast so its most accurate

thats my 2 cents!

remember every scale is different. my pcp scale is 5 lbs more than mine. my pain management dr's scale is 3 lbs heavier.

when its that time of month i weight 2-3 lbs more.

just follow your post surgery guideline and you will do great.

Met my first goal, met my second goal, met my surgeons goal. Now I have a new goal!

If the scale causes you stress, throw out that mess. I weigh daily but the gains don't bother me. Could be some water retention (most likely), or time of day. Your body is in what the heck mode trying to accomodate for the changes in diet .

I gained 3 lbs one night and didn't lose another 1 lb for 4 days, then lost a lb a day for a week straight. Never changed my ticker because I knew it would come back off and it did. No worries!

i had to get rid of my easy to get to scale. weighing yourself at night and then again in the morning is just a recipe for disaster (i know, i used to do it!)

i now weigh in once a week, on my wii fit (so it's not an easy hop on and off thing), and my stress has gone down a TON. your weight will fluculate a LOT, that happens to everyone, post o*****t.

the best advice is to weigh less.

I think these early post op posts about no weight loss are funny =) I know you're stressing but STOP!! come on you have lost 10 lbs in just a few days.. you aren't going to drop 100 lbs in a month! and you didn't gain 5 lbs over night.. it's just time of day and water.. I won't tell you not to weigh everyday because I'm an obsessive weigher myself.. but I don't let it bug me because I know it will come off and I promise  it will for you too!! just stick to your plan and in a year lets see what your ticker says! =)
