Makes the few chapters of books I've been commissioned to do out to be a LOT of fun in comparison. Mine were all three-dimensional brain teasers. Mostly for the Cliff's Notes version of the DAT test prep (for aspiring dentists).

I don't have protein shake issues, but I'll share what my voyage of discovery taught me.

First of all, even pre-op I couldn't stand ANY protein shake with regular milk. It was always "gag me" when it came to that.

Second, I discovered that almost every flavor but chocolate and cookies-and-cream mixed well with crystal light and water.

I used the Nectars while losing, but once I hit maintaining I stopped the nectars and went to the Matrix (same brand, different line) ..... 110 calories instead of 90, the extra twenty calories come from carbs and fat ... it's a whey protein concentrate instead of isolate. I also found it a LOT cheaper, and with a more mild flavor. Their bananas-n-cream, strawberries-n-cream, orange-n-cream, and vanilla all mix well with water and crystal light.

Most vanillas go fine with orange crystal light and water.

 Thanks for posting this. I need help. I hate almost everything. The only thing I've been able to get down is soy milk and Any Whey (but only a half scoop). I dread the shakes. The foam is what really gets me.

Can you explain to me what mixing the paste is all about? How about the making it room temp and cooling it off? What does that do?

I like chocolate, vanilla, coffee, strawberries (but not strawberry flavor).

 I am 4 months out and can barely choke any cold protein drink down now.  But I drink a hot protein drink at least once, sometimes twice a day.   J Robb vanilla in decaf,   chocolate in hot cocoa, or vanilla in spiced chai.  Yummy.  I tend to have a grouchy pouch in the morning and a hot protein latte is a good way for me to wake it up.


I will say Niks recipe for the Mocha peppermint shake is awesome and I finally found SF peppermint syrup at Starbucks tonight.  But that is about the only cold shake I can get down at the moment.
