Frustration!!

I'm so freaking frustrated with it all....I've been going through this process since August 2011...I started with Centennial in Nashville. Did my 6 month diet with them, sent them all my paperwork and then they tell me that they have a freeze on schelduling surgeon consults with AmeriChoice patients. So then I got really defeated and was about to give up. Then I found Gateway Bariatrics in Clarksville, TN. I traveled almost 3 and a half hours there and went to the seminar. I met with the doctor and he tells me that I have to loose 50 pounds before I can continue in the process and that i have to have a ICV screen inserted before I can have the surgery. I don't know how I feel about that. Now suddenly today I get a newsletter from Centennial and they are now accepting my insurance again. I called them to see what I needed to do in order to get my process restarted and they tell me that I need to get an out of network referral for the surgery to be performed. I called my doctors office and they act as if they don't know what I'm talking about. I'm about to get to the point where I don't even care anymore and I'm going to just stay fat and keep moving on with life. I'm just so frustrated and I don't understand why people make this process so hard like someone would just want to put their life at risk for fun....ugh....does anyone have any advice

DONT GIVE UP! This is your life and happiness you're talking about! Don't give up on you! I realize you're frustrated, but jump through their hoops and take the control back by taking care of you! Good luck!!!
I believe in me...the best is yet to be!

Breathe.  Calm down.   Contact your insurance company to determine whether your surgeon is correct about the need for an out of network referral and ask what the referral needs to say so you can tell your doctor.   Schedule an appointment with your PCP so you can get the referral.  It sounds like you prefer your local bariatric center, so just jump through a couple more hoops.

Actually they aren't local...there are no surgeons in Memphis that take my insurance so I have to go out of the city for the surgery. I would prefer Nashville over Clarksville because its a little closer and I have some family that lives there. I just don't know what to do anymore. No one is helpful and everyone seems to want to rush you off the phone when you ask questions.

Do not give up. It is so worth the fight. I had to fight for my surgery and I am so happy I did. Do whatever it takes, ask anyone and everyone for help.

Please dont give up !

I went through the process for a year (appointments, diet requirment..etc) before I could get a date.

I had my surgery on 3/26 and I feel so good. I've already lost a little under 10lbs and I'm already feeling the effects.

You wont regret it if you stick with it!
