Pre-op liquid diet tips?
So I start my liquid diet on Wednesday. I have to be on it for 15 days. The dr's office is giving me 4 protein shakes a day that I have to drink but what other things can I have for those 2 weeks?
Also my family is big on going to brunch for Easter and this year is no different. My sister and I are having the surgery within 10 days of each other so at least I won't be the only one not eating the brunch. The place we are going to is allowing us to bring in our own chicken broth though :)

i cant imagine doin it 15 days.. mine is only 2! but you probably dont have to drink a laxative.. good luck with it! :)
I was so lucky my doctor only required me to do 4 days, but what I did to help was lock myself in my room - lol. When I did come out I cleaned every area of my house - it had never been so clean.
As fars as what else you can have depends on your doctor - they are all different. I know I was able to have cream soups, SF Ice Pops and SF Fudge Pops, Jell-o and things like that.
You are lucky that you will have your sister going through it with you - that is great and you will both be awesome support for each other.
Good Luck !!!

Your doctor's office didn't give you any other guidelines? You should check with them because they may recommend different things. Usually you can have any clear liquids, like broth, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, calorie free drinks like crystal light, tea, water, etc.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.

I am on liquids for 2 weeks it's hard , but I can have chicken noodle soup once a day plus yogurt and crm of wheat...weird.
One thing that I think is weird is that he does not have us to intestinal clean out...just clear liquids the day before surgery, kinda scary

I'm assuming the office is giving you a list of allowable items for your liquid diet?
I made a spreadsheet in order to track protein, calories, sugar, carbs, fat. We had to have at least 100 grams of protein but no more than 1000 calories per day. Sugar and carbs below 10 per drink. Every time I had anything I logged it. I drank as much chicken bullion as I wanted. While the sodium content is high, that hot broth helped a lot...especially the first part of the diet. I was allowed to have V8, and I drank a lot of that. I also drank a lot of soup. As long as I drank something pretty much throughout the day staying within my guidelines it was manageable.
It is nice you will have your sister to walk this path with you. Best of luck to you both.
