I need low-carb, non-meat protein suggestions

As many of you know, I have a 5-pound weight "creep" boundary.  I hit 6 pounds up and did my usual -- increase protein & water, and cut out excess (non-dairy, non fruit/veggie) carbs -- and I lost 3 of them fairly quickly (well, quickly for someone almost 5 years out with a crappy metabolism) but the last 3 pounds are just not coming off.  Yes, I am back below that 5-lb boundary, but still... although it is just empty numbers, and there is nothing magic about 150 lbs, it means the difference between being 149 lbs and being 152 lbs!

I have already eliminated most fruit, but I get a lot of my protein from dairy (which, of course, has carbs), and I cannot imagine eating any more meat and eggs than I already do, so I am looking for suggestions for low carb, non-meat protein sources.  I do not want to have to do protein shakes as a meal replacement, but might have to.  Ick.

I don't like most protein bars, but I do eat them in an "emergency" (to avoid blood sugar drop), and ordered some Quest strawberry ones since those are tolerable (like the taste, still hate the texture).  Alas, they are on backorder.

I don't actually count the carbs at all..

Protein bars : Quest - natural are even lower in fat.  Low net carbs. 20 gr proteins.
Egg white protein pwder - I make shakes, add to coffee and bake with it.
Adding whey proteins to foods- baking with that.

I know you said non-dairy but my go to favs for weigh loss that have been helping me  to lose some regain weight is greek yogurt and shrimp.  both high in protein..

I feel you with that crappy metabolism...I have had one all my life, pre-RNY, during RNY and post-RNY

But I have been buying Chobani unflavored greek yogurt and mixing with Truvia sugar substitute and jello SF cheesecake pudding and eating with sliced granny smith apples....I can't workout due to shoulder complications and pain and my scale have been moving and I stay full a along time.

My other fav I have discovered are Gorton's brand char grilled shrimp and garlic grilled shrimp.

Yeah, I have some of the Chicken Soup, along with the Chocolate Splendor, some Syntrax Vanilla Bean Torte and Twisted Cherry (which  may be expired by now), and some Jay Robb Orange Dreamsicle.  I don't mind hiding the Chocolate and Vanilla in my morning SF hot chocolate, and at least the Orange is something different, but even the Chicken Soup (which is better than a "regular" protein drink) is still a protein drink.

I might have to just use the Cytomax Tangerine protein water as a meal replacment... but I would prefer something I can actually chew!

Have you tried the Atkins Advantage shakes? 15g protein each, negligible carbs (seriously, less than 1g of sugar) and I love the way they taste. I can't tolerate whey protein shakes, but the Atkins shakes taste just like rich chocolate milk to me.

The Atkins shakes are ok, but less protein than the powders.  As far as RTDs, I actually like the Oh Yeah brand chocolate ones the best.

The primary reason that I don't want to use shakes at all, however, isn't the taste or texture.  It is because I feel very strongly about finding ways of eating that I can use long-term (since I am sure that the periodic 5 pound weight creep will be with me forever!) and I don't want to have to rely on protein shakes (even periodically) on a permanent basis.  In my mind, it is tantamount to going on a diet to get those 5 pounds off, and I would much prefer to find additional foods that I can use to keep the protein up but the carbs downs (which will reinforce healthy, normal eating) rather than resort to protein supplements (in shake OR bar form) that will reinforce the "diet" mentality.  To me, that would be only slightly better than turning to all liquids for a week or so (e.g., the 5DPT -- a RNY fad diet) to get those few pounds off.

then I would try greek yogurt if you like that and don't mind the dairy....high in protein and keeps me full and ya know alot of african-americans tend to be lactose intolerant (ne included) with gas, bloating, etc.....but I don't get that with greek yogurt......also another weight booster.......extra Calcium and D3....I take 3 IU's of d3 daily and my probiotics help lose weight....I use Pearls IC
