Back Pain/Troubles

I have had lower back pain and issues since the bulk of my weight came on. It made it really hard for me to work out, and even walk when I was at my highest weight. Recently I have been having lower left side back pain that I can not control with tylenol. I am concerned and not sure what else there is for me to take. I see a chiropractor for regular adjustments but nothing is helping me right now. What should I do?!

Have you seen a neurologist or orthopedist?  Chiropractors can't do everything.

I haven't yet. I guess that is the next step for me. I thought and still think it is weight related but I could be wrong.

I had a pain you describe and after chiropractor, PT for month at 30$ a visit finally demanded x-rays and low and behold it was my hip , first shot of steroids...no back pain at all. Not saying this is what you have , get ye to the doc :)

Yeah I need to get to a real doc and figure this stuff out. Funny sometimes the hip on the same side as my back pain is really sore. Wonder if the two are related.

I would see an orthopedic doctor, spine specialist. If the pain is radiating down one of your legs, you might have herniated a disk. I had those issues when I was younger (and now am having them with my neck)

My PCP, when I discussed my recent issues with my neck, felt that chiropractor was contraindicated with a bulging disk, as this could cause things to get worse.

Good luck. Tramadol often helps when tylenol doesn't. I wi**** worked for me, but I've built up a tolerance, and now to the point where nothing seems to help.

I would recommend a massage therapist and personal trainer .  I had pain in the exact same place and yes I have degenerative disk disease, but after 2 years of suffering (plus daily hydrocodone) and coming close to having back surgery, my trainer told me to try these stretches for my piriformis muscle.  That made all the difference in the world.  At least research piriformis and try the stretches.  Most MDs and surgeons won't even mention anything about that being a possibility.

I know how bad it sucks. I really hope it gets better for you.

I"ve always had lower back problems - from the time I was small.  As I got older and heavier, it got worse.  I would have bouts of severe spasms when I could barely move and the pain was excruciating.

Last October I fell and went through one of those terrible pain times.  I flnally went for MRI and XRays and it was found that 1) I have an extra vertabre in the lower back and 2) I have 3 bulging discs.

I was/am still hoping that as I lose weight it will get better, but right now I think it's getting worse.

I am taking 75 mg of Tramadol twice a day and Percocet for the times I have bad break-though pain.   I really don't want to do any surgery - I've heard too many horror stories.....
