I head all about that... total bullchit.  Ridiculous when anyone other the the doctor and patient are driving any of these health decisions.  Guess you know where I stand...

And as for those saying the debate is about whether birth control should be free, it WOULDN'T BE... if you pay an insurance premiuj, you are paying in one way or another.

Well I went and had myself fixed, so I don't take BC, and I work for the state as a teacher, so at present these laws don't have much to do with me. But it's vomitous in the absolute extreme. I wrote the thirty state senators. I got two robo-responses, two "I'll fight the fight but the state senate is NOT woman-friendly", one "you emailed the wrong place, here's the right email, PLEASE send it to him" and one "Are you serious? Does your principal know you hold these kinds of views? What are you teaching your students?" (I'm a math teacher, I teach them geometry)

Wow, unbelievable... I get so angry when I hear about all this crap that I want to spit!  Glad you wrote the state senators... we definitely have to let them all know that it's NOT ok.

Follow up would be a copy of the Constitution. That state sen might, you know, read it. Especially the part about freedom of speech. Though in all likelihood, the ignorant response was written by an intern.

Actually I'm pretty sure she responded personally, as my response - mild in tone, asserting my professionalism in my classroom, and her response was, "That's not what my grandkids tell me about THEIR teachers"

to which I can imagine the dialogue

"So, grandkid, why are your grades so low?"

Grandkid, "My teacher hates me because she's a democrat, and she doesn't like your politics"

To which granny responds: "I can't believe those teachers!"

And then in the school

"Senator's Grandkid," says the teacher, "You really need to turn in your assignments if you want to raise your grades."

Grandkid to teacher, "My grandma says you shouldn't make me do all this work."

Ugh, any excuse to shirk responsibility in the family, right? Seriously, I don't get where her response comes from. So, as a teacher you're not entitled to personal opinion or politics? Does she not get that professionals can be impartial in the workplace? No, apparently as the myth goes, that since Democrats are so anti-baby, all we can do is brainwash other people's children to propagate our ideology. Snort.

I can't crochet at all, but I have a big bin of yarn, and if you can learn to crochet it, I'll mail you my yarn as a contribution to the cause!

This issue has been a near daily conversation between my friends and me.

I cannot follow crochet patterns.  My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was young but not to read patterns.  I can make afghans and scarves; I know how to do different stitches and can count how many I'm doing and decide if I want different colors of stripes or whatever, like that, but I am quite sure I could not make those patterns.

however, I was thinking of figuring out some other way to make a model of a uterus.  Maybe I could cut out cardboard shapes and decorate them or something?

I was thinking of tracing the shape of a uterus, along with ovaries and fallopian tubes, onto cardboard, then cutting it out.  Then either decorating it with different scrapes of decorative paper, kind of like a collage, or decorating it with fabric scraps, kind of looking like patchwork quilt.  Those would look cool.  and would not be very expensive to make or to mail.
