daily vitamin check in
I still need one dose of calcium and my iron and C.

Anyway, my question to you is about vitamins. My nutritionist has me taking 4 optisource multi's per day, and 4 2000iu vitamin d gummies per day, and that is all right now, based on pre op labs. It is definitely easier than the lists that some others have, but is this getting everything in that I should?
Thanks,
Michelle
The ASMBS says we need 200% of the RDA of most things. Four Optisource only gives you 100% of most stuff.
We also need 1500-2000 mg calcium CITRATE. Optisource has calcium carbonate, which you can't absorb. you don't have enough stomach acid to break it down to absorb it. So you're getting no calcium right now.
Optisource has B12 but you can't absorb that either because you swallow it and your pouch doesn't have enough intrinsic factor. You need a sublingual that dissolves under your tongue, shots, or the nasal spray.
You might wanna forward the ASMBS guidelines to your nutritionist, because it seems she hasn't read them. nutrition.otago.ac.nz/__data/assets/file/0005/4784/Bariatric NutritionReading.pdf

I really need to find a better way to do this. I've been forgetting a lot this past week, and that's a slippery slope. Since I don't take any medications and haven't for years (not since I quit birth control) I'm simply not in the habit of taking pills.
Need to get a system worked out so I can remember more easily. I keep my big ol' pill organizer on the kitchen counter, but then I got used to it being there and it's become easy to overlook. I've considered setting an alarm on my phone to remind me 4x a day. I hate that it's come to that, but it's just what I might have to do.
