The way I understand it...reacting to sugar and dumping are all about the same. From what you described, I would beg to disagree. I thnk you do dump, just not severely. Don't think of it as "I dump or I don't." It's more like a continuum. I used to be a more severe dumper. At four years out my dumping resembles more what you experience. Conversely I know some folks who don't even get the sweats or the fast heartbeat until they consume a LOT of sugar. My theory is every post op has a threshold, some of us just have higher thresholds than others.

But it's still dumping for me whether it is mild or severe. So I tend to stay away from sugar.

I don't know that that's your experience but from the times you've described it it always sounded, to me, like a mild dumping episode.

Yeah, it's very possible it's all just different levels of the same thing. It doesn't really matter what I call it--a reaction is a reaction. And either way, even if it's just a brief sweat, I don't like the way it makes me feel, so I watch my sugars.

 1. Even if there is no one else in the house, farting in the restroom. Cause sometimes they're not!
2.  Argue with my doc more when they blow me off and insist burping once a minute is normal.
3. To not wear under wire bras when having trapped air is a norm.
4.  To not be embarrassed and ask questions when you have to go buy sex slick because your girls parts are just as dehydrated as the rest of you, and they hurt worse!
5.  To always have female backup hygiene products. Always! Even the day they cut ya open!
6.  Leave a full water bottle in the car.
7.  Keep a hair scrunchy available at all times to use to keep your hair clean when vomiting.
8.  Get a long chain for the emergency alert necklace so it doesn't swing when you're bent over.
9.  Carry breath mints at all times!
10.  Take the time to let the medical staff know how much your appreciate their help. Especially if you're a repeat patient.

 I learned......

I dump. Yipee?

When you have food stuck, the solution is not to drink liquids to try to push the food down.

I can eat at pretty much any restaurant - except Melt, where all they sell are crepes & gelato.

I am not a moderation person; introduction of tortilla chips & cheezits to my maintenence diet is a slippery slope for me. Rigidity and boring works for keeping me on track.

Not listening to my pouch. Just because got away with eating something the first time, doesnt mean I'll be able to eat it the second time. Most likely something I shouldnt have had in the first place.

When you have to poo, get up and go right then!!  You cant hold it like you used to. Just because you are in Walgreens isnt a good reason to try to hold it. Do not like to learn these things the hard way.  My new intestinse do not like to be kept waiting.

I can not hang with my friends like I used to. Shots are a no no. Sometimes, I tell ya...I like to learn the hard way.
