why does everything yummy have too much sugar?
I had to go to Meijer to get soy milk. It was either that, or go to the farm to pick up my raw milk. Which is what I probably should have done since I've already paid for it. I would have saved $5. But the farm is 30 minutes away and Meijer is five minutes away, and I would have had to stop for gas before going to the farm except there is no where to get gas on the way to the farm so I would have had to drive in the opposite direction to get gas first, and I already had enough gas to get to Meijer. So I went to Meijer.
I decided I wanted a treat. I thought about buying raspberries, which I love. But they were $3.49 for six ounces and I hate to pay that much. Somehow I ended up in the ice cream aisle. You know those really cute little single serving cups of Ben and Jerry's? I think they came out with those right after I had my RNY. Not that I ever would have bought one before surgery. Wouldn't have been enough ice cream for me. But they are cute. They are also full of sugar.
Even the little Weigh****cher's cups had 19 grams of sugar. Blah. And did you know that Klondike now makes chocolate chip mint Klondike bars? What would you do... for a Klondike bar? Um, not dump. I didn't even bother looking at how much sugar was in that. But I spent a lot of time looking at ice cream that has too much sugar for me.
So I bought my soy milk and then I went to Starbucks and bought a skinny vanilla latte. Which I like. But sometimes, when you try to fool yourself, you know, telling yourself, "No, you can't have that Klondike bar, but you can have a yummy skinny vanilla latte!" Doesn't always work. I was not fooled.
And you know what else? I probably should have just bought the raspberries. Because that latte cost me $4.05.
I'm gonna stick a chocolate mint protein bar in the freezer. Maybe it will taste kinda like a chocolate chip mint Klondike bar?

Yeah, some Americans are. But when they say 1/3 of Americans are overweight, or whatever, the statistic is, they are typically referring to the fact that their BMI is in the "overweight" category. Which was changed some time back, by the way. You used to be able to weigh more before they called you overweight. Then they just arbitrarily decided to change it and overnight, there were a bunch more overweight Americans.
According the current BMI chart, if I gained just a few more pounds, I would be overweight. Um, I am wearing size 8 shorts at this moment. A size 10 would make me overweight? Really?
And yet, although I know it's stupid, I really want my BMI to stay in that "normal" range.

AMEN!
I was looking at the NSA Klondikes yesterday. Wasn't the sugar count that held me back but the calories. I don't want to spend nearly 200 calories on something with virtually no protein or nutrients! So...yeah.
I did, however, settle on a box of 100 calorie English Toffee Crunch Weigh****chers ice cream bars and they were goooooooo-ooooood! (I know you know what that means when the word "good" is more than one syllable!)
