I appreciate the thought.  I wish I knew what someone could do to help.  If I knew, I'd be asking.  I really feel like there's not much anyone can do.

Kelly I'm so sorry you're really hurting today....I've been there and just wanted to know if I lived close by I would come see you, give you hugs...and just be there for you.
I see you almost daily on here helping others. I just wish one of us on here was closer to you. You seem like a wonderful caring person and it's a shame we can't give back to you how you always seem to give to us.
I'm hoping you have a buddy who you can call or hang out with. If you do, today seems just the day to call them. I know there's those days I just need to get out of my own head and focus on others, maybe this might help you.
many, many cyber hugs!

I'm sorry-I have no advice to give--having such a severe depression must be like the chronic pain I've had for years--it just wears on your soul after a while. I wish someone had a magic wand they could wave over you and everything would be alright. Please know people do care about you and I hope you find a solution very soon,

I imagine it is very like chronic pain.  While pain is never fun, I think it's easier to cope with when you know it's just temporary.  If I have surgery and then have some pain, I know it will be better in a few days.  With chronic pain, you know it's not likely to get much better.  That has to be much, much harder to deal with.

And long term depression is pretty much like that.

 Kelly,
I have a co-worker who has depression so bad that they ended up having to surgerically place something inside her chest that continuously releases meds to keep her stable and functioning.  She has had severe depression and has been on every med there is but still was not helping her.

It's something that continually releases meds?  It's not the thing that emits electrical pulses that stimulates the vagus nerve?  That's something I've never heard of.  Are the meds different than the meds you would take orally?  Do they have to refill it with meds periodically somehow?

I have worked in psychiatry for 24 years and have never heard of something implanted that releases antidepressants.

I haven't heard of it either.  I was wondering if it was something new.  Or if she was talking about VNS.

I think that it is the electrical pulses that stimulates the vagus nerve.  But, I also thought she told me that meds are involved as well.  I will ask her and get back to you on that.  I do know that she has it and swears by it and really likes it because it keeps her depression at bay.  She has had extensive hospital stays in and out for her depression.  She also has a brother who committed suicide and was really concerned that she do something about her own depression.  She made it sound like depression is a genetic thing in her family.

I am so sorry you are having such a rough time !!!!! I feel your pain.
I did see something on the news last week about a new type of  electrotherapy or magnetic for depression on ones that medications have not totally taken it away , and the woman they featured had suffered for years and years.
My daughter and I have done acupuncture , I feel I naturally felt better because I was taking some sort of action ( my insurance payed) plus meds ,he also did my 36 y/o daughter for free because she had no insurance, and no meds, she felt much better , but it does take time, not a quick fix.
I must commend you for stepping out and helping others here on OH when you feel so bad yourself. I personally have appreciated what you have had to say , so...I thank you
I truly hope you can feel better soon!!!
