Starting today, I vow to excercise more.

I love to exercise, so getting back to the gym and being able to move my body was a really big priority for me. Now that I've lost almost 30lbs and my knees and ankles don't hurt, it's been so pleasant. I even took a job last week at the YMCA as a fitness instructor (kids swim classes and adul****er aerobics) just for the accountability.
BUT, that's not to say it hasn't been without a lot of mental roadblocks. Last year, I tried to really challenge myself and signed up for a Crossfit bootcamp class. Well... yeah, that didn't go so well. I was in TOTAL denial about how fat and out of shape I was, and the class thoroughly beat me into the floor. I had to quit 7 weeks into it.
I saw the trainer several weeks ago, and he recognized me and made a snarky comment about how I quit. It really burned, and put a huge ding in my pride.
So going back and getting back into the swing of things has been tough, trying to get over that bruised ego and self consciousness--not to mention, the physical discomofrt of being morbidly obese and trying to exercise. I started with water classes. SENIORS' water aerobics, if it gives you an idea of how out of shape I was. And as those get too easy to be challenging, I'm adding in more work--lap swimming, jogging, longer intervals on the elliptical, weight training. And eventually, I'll make it back to that bootcamp class and knock his obnoxious socks off.
It sounds like you're doing a damn fine job of recognizing when your body is feeling complacent and when it wants to be challenged. And there is NOTHING wrong with starting slow, building as you go. You're totally on the right track. Good luck!
