exercise vs. calories

I want to start off by saying WLS was the best thing I have ever done for myself!  I love the new me.  But the new me is stuck.  I have been a slow loser since day one and happy for it.  But now that I am 'active' (Running 3-4 days a week, walking (4miles) 3-4 days a week, golfing, etc) my weight loss has slowed down to nothing.  I have talked with my Nut who said that I am doing everything right but something is just off.  My calorie intake is 1,000 per day.  My protein intake ranges from 75-90 grams a day, my water intake is 60-80 ounces a day.  Getting in 1,000 calories is a chore (I never thought I would be saying that! LOL)  I have had so many people tell me that I am gaining muscle that is why the scale isn't moving, but I have a hard time believing that is the whole reason.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what I can do differently to get the scale moving again?

If you are doing that much activity, 1000 calories a day is probably not enough and your body has likely dropped your metabolism down to try to squeeze everything it can out of those 1000 calories.

Have you tried upping your calories a little? I remember well when getting in 1000 calories seemed impossible but it sometimes can mean the difference between your body getting stuck in starvation mode and getting those last few lbs off....And yeah, muscle weighs more than fat so gaining muscle may look like not losing weight but the plus side is muscle burns up your metabolism!!

Can you add in a protein shake?  That will up your calories and protein and might kick your metabolism back into gear.

I can definately try.  the hard thing for me is I travel 4-5 days a week for my job and I don't stay in the same place more than 1-2 days.  Carrying my protein shakes and getting Almond Milk (the only thing I can drink) is very challenging.  But anything is worth a shot!  Thank you.

it looks like we had surgery around the same time and I've had to increase my calories as well.  I get anywhere from 1100-1300 calories a day.  I was in a stall and as soon as I increased my calories, the weight starting coming off again.

Good luck and congrats on your loss so far!

Hillery: I know increasing my calories will help.  It is difficult because I do not feel hunger and have a limited amount of foods I can tolerate.  I am going to try to add another protein shake to my day and maybe some more trailmix as that will boost my calories.  THanks for the input, it is greatly appreciated.  Keep up the great work you have done awesome!
