pagan verse of the day
That's lovely.
My best friend is Pagan, and I've always found it fascinating how strongly Paganism and Judaism mesh. There are very big differences, of course, but our God doesn't have a face or a gender. Several of our holidays follow the earthly cycles, harvest periods, etc--Tu b'shevat (the birthday of trees and the mark of planting season in Israel), Sukkot (the harvest festival at the end of the growing season), etc.
At least in the more liberal movements, there's a lot more focus on community and people, rather than on religious rituals. Celebrating life is a key ideal.
I love reading about peoples' different faiths. To me, it's all different aspects of the same elephant. I think the vast majority of religions share a common base--gratitude to a higher power (whatever that may be), love and respect of your fellow man, and moral integrity.

very nice. I myself was raised catholic but really am not a pracicing catholic. I feel everyone has a right to believe in what they want to and they have a right to read, listen or see what they coose too.

This tied in to my hot yoga class today to a tee!! My yogi is wonderful, she's my favorite because she always connects mind and body - the others at my studio are awful. I leave her class at peace with myself. The "law of attraction", believe it and it shall be kind of thoughts have been in my face front and center this week like mad, it's time for me to really pay attention to what's going on with me and focus on what I need to make happen.
I am not quite sure what I am, I was raised roman catholic and the minute my mother let me stop going to church I never went back for anything other than a wedding, christening or funeral. There is something bigger than all of us out there, I just don't happen to think it is a vengeful god. I feel more in line with the Wiccan beliefs, it makes sense to me.
I vote we take turns posting a pagan thread daily. And anyone who's offended can go screw. If there can be a bible story every day, we can certainly have a pagan verse as well.

I was actually planning on doing a daily pagan thread, at least for a while. But I would be delighted for others to jump in and post something, too. So if anyone wants to do it, go ahead... and if it's getting late in the day and no one has, I will.

I do believe in God, but I also believe we are as one with the earth. And even being a registered nurse, I believe more so in medicines made from the earth than in "modern" medicines. I also believe in moon cycles and the effect on the human body...
I believe in the old Celtic ways...
