What's for dinner?

I'm pissed.

The person coordinating tonight's church dinner said she was doing corned beef and cabbage for St. Patty's Day. I asked if I could help so she said I could pick up soda bread, Irish butter and dessert.

Well...every store but Harris Teeter (read: EXPENSIVE) was out of soda bread. So $15 later, I am at church with some dang bread and butter. Pastor and the old ladies come out carrying...

Fixings for a taco bar. The particular old lady who SAID she was coordinating dinner was nowhere to be found. I guess my office gets soda bread and Irish butter tomorrow. Ba-dum-bum.

So I made myself taco salad (lettuce, tomato, onions, meat, cheese, guac, salsa and sour cream). I had a chocolate cupcake for dessert. Here's what else I had today:

1. PB oatmeal
2. Grilled tilapia burrito bowl from local Chipotle knock-off place (no rice)
3. Some watermelon chunks (mmmmm...)

So...what's on YOUR plate today?

Well I got my new car purchased last night(which left me having an awful dinner that Im not prepared to fess up to yet) so today I'm "back on track"

B: Protein Hot Chocolate
L: Epic Tuna Salad
D: Turkey Taco Salad w/refried beans

I did catch myself 'grazing' today and ended up eating half of one piece of a sugar free chocolate candy.

Can you believe I'm having quiche for dinner?

Actually I'm going to have artichoke hearts, turkey chunks, and cheese chunks. :-)

Today I went and got a purple streak put in my hair, after sleeping in past nine am.

Then I found out that my state legislature is going to vote into law a new method of discrimination. All women will have to explain WHY they want birth control to their employer, and if it is to stop conception of a baby, the employer can do anything from refusing to fund it, to firing the woman.

Then I wrote to every state senator on the state roster, since it's already passed through the AZ state legislature.

The first response I got was from my personal state senator for my district, and she wanted to know if I allow my political feelings to color the grades I give my students, you know, F for Republicans, and A for democrats. Sounded like she plans to "tattle" on me to my principal. Wicked witch. I'll probably lose my job.

Oh Gawd, really???

Can you give a link to that legislation? (news story)

May have to start some FB drama over that one there.

Here is the Huff Post story about it.

It's enough to make me want to vomit.

You and me both.

Last week I believe they passed legislation that made it legal for doctors to LIE to their female patients in order to prevent that patient from getting an abortion.

I don't even live in AZ and I want to protest that crap.  It is a joke, isn't it?  It can't be serious.  Why don't they just let the employers into the employees bedroom so they can make sure they aren't doing anything "unnatural".

The response I got from my personal state senator was almost threatening too.

To be frank, I would NOT be surprised if she forwards my email to her on to my principal, so he'll know what kind of a radical teacher he has teaching the precious children of AZ.

I was very upset when I wrote it, but I didn't say anything -- as a citizen of this state -- that I'm ashamed of. Would I share it with my students? Not unless they came to me and brought it up and even then I probably wouldn't discuss it with any but my seniors, most of whom are adults now.

To imply that I'm spewing political drivel to my students instead of teaching them math was truly insulting. Particularly because I don't have enough time to do anything in my classes other than teach my subject. And that subject isn't state politics.

They even require (I read the actual legal document, not just the Huff Post article) that if a person wants the contraceptives, then they can pay the regular price, and then submit a claim to have it paid for with their proof that it is for a medical condition, and for a special processing fee, they might get it covered. So even if they have a sound medical reason other than conception, they get stiffed for the full price, then a "processing fee" on top of it, so that they'll feel the utter shame of being a woman who has PCOS or any other problem.
