ViSalus Product Info (Updated to another post)
I was kind of excited about this when I first started using the Vi-Shape Protein Powder by ViSalus. However, after several converations with our girl Nik, I realized that it's not ideal for a gastric bypass patient. At least not someone who's not in maintenance mode.
My current protein powder: Met-Rx 100% Whey- I can do 2 scoops in 8 ounces of Silk light, tossed in the Ninja for 60 seconds (another shout out to our girl Nik!) and have a nice shake (I've also been adding just a touch of SF pudding powder to help with the thickening, but it doesn't really "need" it). That there is 280 calories, 13 carbs, 8 fiber and 52 protein (note: I do take a fiber supplement-this is not included in these numbers). I can get the rest of my protein through food (I average 100g or more daily).
When I tried the ViSalus protein powder: 2 scoops in Silk Light was 150 calories, 13 carbs, 6 fiber, but only 18g protein. So, I added stuff I thought would be okay. The shakes were pretty tasty, but Nik pointed out it stopped being a "shake" after a certain point.
And the ingredients list bugged me. A lot. My Met-Rx doesn't have a long list of stuff I can't pronounce, ViSalus does ( http://90-day-challenge.org/body-by-vi-visalus-products-ingr edients/ ). I started to try to research the ingredients on my own, and quite frankly....I got lost in the land of confusion. My final thought on the product was, "Am I really consuming animal hooves and connective tissue?" Even if that stuff isn't in there, there is a LOT of processing to get whatever it is they get into this powder just in general.
Although I appreciate the opportunity to try the product, for me it's not ideal. My approach to my daily diet really does work well for me in conjunction with my workouts.

Thanks for posting the stats. I looked for them on their website and had trouble finding them.
