NBC last night (Biggest Loser, Fashion Star....)

Ok, since I have two shows to comment on today, I figured I’d save the extra post.

Biggest Loser

So…I guess we see who the targets are now that the aqua team are gone! Poor Kim and Emily! I liked Kim’s attitude going into it though. She knows she’s a threat and a target and that the ONLY way at this point to avoid that is to stay her ass above that yellow line. WOOT!

Emily…well…I feel for her. I really do. And that’s saying something because I generally don’t have a lot of tolerance for people who are doing awesome things and can’t at least acknowledge that. I realize, though, not everyone was endowed with my arrogance…er, confidence so I give her a SLIGHT pass. But seriously? Ever since last week’s “I don’t think we beat them" at the weigh-in she has worked my last nerve. I think she was working Bob’s nerves too. But he seemed to have an affection for her so he tried. I give him credit for that.

What was up with “nice Dolvett"? I guess even militant trainers need to be encouraging at times but yeah…your job? Yell at people, twitch a peck every now and again and flash those pearly whites. K?

(This week’s Biggest Loser was brought to you by Subway…eat fresh!)

So I liked the white elephant game. I sorta felt bad for Kim and Emily because nobody was siding with them but I also felt good for Kimmy fighting for her prize. But I totally woulda took Emily’s phone for a day. Just sayin.

The shopping trip. With Jessica Simpson! Ok, I have to call Biggest Loser folks out. Having a clothing line does NOT necessarily make one a fashion icon. If they were going shopping with Diane von Furstenburg that would be one thing. But “cabillionty seven" months pregnant, Jessica Simpson? Not so much. I will admit the clothes were cute. That’s all I’m admitting.

The weigh-in. Meh. Seemed like everyone had a pretty good week. I wasn’t really shocked by anything. The elimination was predictable. I liked the “Biggest Loser Transformation Moment." Who the FRICK knew Emily could sing??? And sing well! That was a nice surprise. I missed the preview for next week. Was there one?

Anyhoo…moving right along…

Fashion Star

OMG! I like this show!

It’s too early on for me to remember folks names so I am just winging it.

First I would like to say that Elle MacPherson is hella tall. If she wasn’t a model I dunno what she’d be. Moving along to the designers.

I think my fave was the girl who made the skirts that zipped off. I was so hoping H&M would buy that design!!! I literally work across the street from an H&M and would have bought that skirt today. Big mistake, H&M. Huge.

After her…um…I sorta dug necktie girl but like the judges was confused about her only showing neck ties. That was kinda lame. SO glad that chauvinist ass got eliminated although I could not fault him for questioning the validity of Jessica Simpson’s fashion opinion. Again…she is no Coco Chanel! I did find Nicole Richie to be an interesting judge. Loved how she told the Salvadoran dude straight up she didn’t like his dresses. But she still managed to be encouraging, which is good.

The differences in upbringing are apparent in Jessica and Nicole. You can tell Nicole grew up rich and around high fashion and Jess…did not. I think that will make for interesting tension as the season progresses.

Not many others really stood out to me. I await the next show to see what happens!

Biggest Loser hasn't held my interest this season.  Too much Subway?

Really enjoyed the Fashion Star show.  I would also buy the zip off skirt.  Great idea.  Jessica's fashion sense, I agree with you completely.  She was on Ellen yesterday & the freebies for the audience were awful.

Haven'****ched BL yet.

Loved Fashion Star!  Although the glitzy musical number was cheesy and the over the top music and dancers is distracting from the actual fashion....I would prefer it be presented more like Project Runway.

Remember...the purpose of the show is to find fashions that the mass market will buy thereby making big jack for all involved....it REALLY isn't about finding the next Channel or Marc Jacobs....

I like the diversity in the buyers.....from low cost H&M to Saks.....interesting.  Didn't see much on the runway that is "new"..............EXCEPT..........that zipper skirt!  I want one.  Now.  But....it needs to be longer to appeal to more women.  I am over 40.....I don't do mini.

The crazy midget got on my nerves and did not have to goods to back up his arrogance....I so wanted straight bow tie guy to wow me.....he did not.

Jessica, right-wrong-or indifferent IS a "fashion expert" in that she has made millions in the business......somebody likes her stuff.  I've only seen her bags (too expensive for what you get) and her shoes (way cute, but BRUTALLY uncomfortable).....I've never seen her clothing.

Nicole definitely represents a different perspective, but I'll bet Jessica's opinion will be highly valued as her stuff is marketed to the "everyday woman"....

I'll keep watching for sure.

Yeah I guess you are right about Jessica. But see the thing is I think the secret to her success is who she HIRED, not her fashion sense itself. She probably has a great team of designers and I can totally see her role as going "Ooooh, that's pretty..."

If that makes one a fashionista, then I say go girl!

THAT is the secret to my success!  I can't write a lick of code, nor can I actually USE the software we develop.....what I bring to the table is excellent management skills and knowledge of what the customer wants.....then I hire really smart, talented people to pull the whole thing off!

I'm with you though in that I question whether she is truly a good critic of what real fashion is, but she sure can teach them a thing or two about the business side of it.

Damn! That's steep. Let's hope that becomes a trend lower priced stores pick up on!

That was a huge fail on H&M's part.....they could've made a killing on that skirt at $40!!

I'd already have two ordered!....$350.....not so much.......probably didn't pay that much for my whole wardrobe!!

They seemed fairly conservative on the buys all around. Hmmmmm...

I love the insight this gives into how designers are paid, though. I always wondered that.

I havent' watched fashion star yet but biggest loser is just ******g me off this season altogether.  They are all just whiny and complaining about losing family members.  I can't wait until Jeremy and Condra are up against each and one of them has to be voted off then we will see whining.  I cant stand her and was pissed to see her as the one that got the shopping trip.  I wish she would go home - I dont' know why everyone likes her there
