OT - Lent promises. How's it going?

Thought I'd post here to ask about any Lent promises you guys made.

I gave up cottage cheese for Lent and I have to say...it is HARD! I leaned on that stuff for a lot of my daily protein. La Petite Diva joined me in that promise (she is a cottage cheese hound too) while La Grande Diva gave up Mountain Dew products (which, technically speaking, as a parent I should prolly forbid. She drinks the diet but still...).

I also promised to increase my giving. I cannot fully tithe at this point but I thought concentrating on giving more will get me over my hesitation and fear about "not having enough." So far everything is absolutely fine.

Did you make a Lent promise? How is it going?

I gave up caffeine and chocolate (not including protein powder and protein bars).  It was pretty hard in the beginning.  At first I said I would just give up milk chocolate, but then I started gorging on dark chocolate, so I gave that up too!  In moderation I think dark chocolate is totally fine, but I don't eat in moderation, so I decided it was best to just cut it out entirely.

The caffeine withdrawal gave me some gnarly headaches for about 4 days, but since then I've been fine.  I definitely crave chocolate sometimes but since I don't have any in the house, I don't give into the cravings!

My new Lenten goal is to add some exercise in.  I'm still losing weight, but I'd like to gain some shape!

I gave up sugar. I had one particularly wonderful relapse at a excellent restaurant. It was a chocolate desert that I'm sure was the best I ever had. At least it was small.
Back on the no sugar wagon.

So since I hate eating should I make myself eat for Lent? Can't give up the little I am eating because I am already a little malnourished,  ;)  Don't think I can give up much else...hmm I am definitely going to be donating clothes, but that is not really new.

Lent promises can be about giving up somethign OR about doing something good for others. With respect to that, you could do a variety of things.
.
One of my friends simultaneously gave up Facebook for Lent and vowed to make voice and face contact with as much of her famiy as she can. That's just one example

Thank you for that information.  To tell you the truth, I am not catholic or any religion that does lent, (I have friends who are), but I think it is a good practice and I still make a goal to give up something every year.  I do it along with my friends who do practice it.  I think it helps keep people from being so selfish, even for just a little while.  So I honestly don't know much about it other than you make a sacrifice of some sort.  ;)

You know that's really encouraging. A person who simply wants to be a better person in the world.

Thank you for that. You actually just made my day. :)
