It's the area of skin where your pubic hairs grow..... generally.

Lora,
I totally understand about the mons. I had my panni removed and he also did the mons but my skin just old and stretched and my mons still looks really big and I feel like I have a man's package down there. He's going to tighten it up later this summer after my July half marathon, but you can only do so much with old skin.

Got it! Well, I didn't know that that is what it's called. I got it too. I'm saving for my PS in the future, cause I will certainly need it.

I was also emotional watching the show last night. I've had brachioplasty, a lowerbody lift, and breast lift. In clothes I looked good (I wore super tight shapewear to keep the skin in place) so no one understood why I was having surgery. I did not even go down in size so afterwards people are still confused. But I am so thankful. It was a necessary healing step for me. Mentally I definitely feel more at peace now.

Lora, I had those same feelings watching that show last night.  I am currently recovering from a tummy tuck and hernia repair (insurance paid for!!!!!!), but my surgeon doesn't do  the mons area (I was surprised that many don't).  I have seen a plastic surgeon and can't wait for this to be done.  She believes I have a good shot at the insurance paying for it-we'll see.  Mine is the size of a softball and hangs halfway down my thighs.  My panni covered it so I never really realized how truly bad it was until I could see the full view.  In some ways, it is keeping from fully appreciating the fruits of the journey thus far and that makes me sad.  I look so unfeminine with that huge bulge!!!!!!  I really do hate it!!!!!!!  I am trying to be patient and keep reminding myself that one way or another I will have this lift/reduction done.  Oh, for day when that comes!!!!

If it makes you feel any better, mine was about the same size, and it was not as expensive to have the lift done as I had anticipated.  My surgeon charegd me $1500 for it  3 years ago (but that was in combination with my arms, so most of the cost of the OR time, etc. was already covered).  As far as plastic surgery goes, it is pretty inexpensive.

I remember SO vividly how upsetting is was after I had the first surgery and then could really see that horrible "thing".  Just hang in there.  I am sure you will fnd a way to have it taken care of.

Lora,

Thanks so much for your honesty about these issues.   The thought of a bunch of excess skin fills me with dread.... because I know I'll have it and probably a lot (especially after 3 pregnancies & 2 c-sections).   But, knowing I will neither be the first nor the last, helps.

I'd just never even considered extra skin ''down there,'' though..... oh my.

If you don't have a lot of fat in that area (some do and some don't... not sure why), you will probably not have excess skin there.  If you have a lot of fat there, though, it seems like you will probably have excess skin there.
