Holy hospital bill, Batman!

I have been in ER 2 times.  And the second time it was treated as "clinic visit" thanks to me doc who called ahead and scheduled CT scan. Any other time - I was able to talk to my doc and get some meds to help with the pain - or other symptoms  - and follow up the next day.  But in all cases - I was able to drink and keep some water down...

the only one time -  I chose to go to ER when I was out of town and got severe bladder infection that turned into kidney infection... and it was Saturday night.... the few hrs I spent in ER cost me a lot of $$$.  I am lucky I have a center (doc) on call 24/7.

Good luck babe. Hope you do not have to go there again.  But - in any case - glad we have that in case of real emergency.

Yikes. That actually made me lose my breath for a moment. So sorry your refund has to go to that but grateful you HAVE a refund to cover it.

The refund won't cover all of it but, yes, I am thankful to have that money coming.

Something interesting must have happened with tax law.

My state refund is actualy three times what my federal is. That never happens. Weird.

With room charges of 14K, I at least want a view of a crystal blue ocean and a big muscle man coming in daily for a massage...lol.  I almost passed out when I saw my bill from the hospital/surgeon when I had my RNY.  good luck with all of it!  It sucks but being dead from waiting would be worse:)

You can probably negotiate that down.  Insurance companies wouldn't pay $14,000 for a single night of hospital care, and you shouldn't have to either.

Good luck!

That was the room charge for all 4 days, not just one.  My insurance only actually paid them about 1/3 of the billed amount.  The $1900 is my 15% of the allowed portion of the entire bill (including the ER charges), so I am definitely stuck with it.
