Nut's! I love them but...
I think I shouldn't have them in my hone. I usually eat 4-5 pretzel sticks with my meal, no other carbs. but this week I went to a support group and someone suggested I buy nuts instead. So I did. I know I can't eat cashews cause I can't stop eating them, but I'm not an almond fan, so I bought those. But last night I must've had like 4-5 handfuls of nuts. And this morning I was actually up a pound I'm not saying that I gained cause of the almonds, but I know I overdid it with them last night. I think I was doing better with the pretzels, though I didn't have any at all yesterday. So I'm thinking If I can go a day without them, I can eliminate them from my meals all together. But as far as the almonds go, (or any type of nut for that matter) I think it's a weak spot for me and I should just avoid them at all cost. I'll be giving them to my mom today.

well the nuts at least have some nutrional value to them, they have some protein and some of the good fats that our bodies need, compaired to the prezels they have none... i have been getting some peanut butter filled pretzels, and some times i have those also...i get them at my local publix grocery store..but i also have my trai mix that i keep on hand...perhaps if they are your trigger food, then make them hard to get to....but dont just give up on them as they do have some kind of nutritional value to them....perhaps they were just so new and good that you went a little over board on them..but just make them hard to get to, not with in easy reach, get a small dish or scoop or something that is for your nuts only....once that container is gone for the day, then no more....to help with portion control...

You could be up the pound from the sodium on the nuts - it's water gain. HOWEVER - if you can't control portions then don't set yourself up for failure by keeping them in front of you. Get rid of them. No need to make yourself feel bad.
I have the same issues and abstinence really is key - if you don't buy then you won't eat!

Thanks guys! Maybe I'll try the portion control first. I'll either buy the 100 cal packs or I'll put them in a little container where that's all I can eat in a day. But if I still feel like I get outta control with them I'll get rid of them. I will try again today. But youre right, it's better than pretzels.

I cannot live without the nuts! I have teeny baby bowls and snack size baggies in the house. I count out the nuts into the serving size I'm going to have and but it into a little baby bowl or baggie for lunch or on the go and force myself to stick to it. I need to nibble a nut sometimes between sips of protein shakes. Because I eat some everyday I don't want very much anymore. I swear that eating 6 cashews satisfies me!
I know I can't do cashews at all. I LOVE cashews! I'll eat the whole bag. That is a major trigger food for me. Almones I don't like so much, so I didn't eat asany as I would've with the cashews, but in all I had like 1/2 a cup, but I'd like to keep it less than that in one sitting. 1/2 a cup through out the day I think would be fine.
Half a cup is 320 calories, 23 g fat, 6g fiber and only 12 g of protein - not being the food police by any means - it's just that I eat between 1000 and 1200 calories and 320 calories is alot for me.
Nuts are very good for you but it's too easy to eat too many (I hear you on the cashews - they're not allowed here anymore!).
Again - just sharing the nutritional data on the almonds :)

I hear ya on the cashews but honestly just a few satisfy me now. I used to HATE almonds but I bought the smokehouse variety from Blue Diamond and I love the smokiness and saltiness. Now I have almonds all the time. They are very low in carbs and high in magnesium and other minerals too!
