Sigh. Do you ever wonder why you bother?

I received a private message from someone that had posted on this forum asking for help and advice.  The poster was not asking for my help specifically, but I assumed this person would be open to help and advice from anyone.  Reasonable?  I guess not.

This is what I got for my trouble:

"I've read your posts, seen your pictures on your blog, and have heard about your mental problems from you yourself, the first day I became aware of you. I've got to admit, and being in the Psychiatric research field I see some severe cases, but you really REALLY take the cake for messed up in the head. What makes you think I would ever take ANY advice from someone as messed up as you are?! Maybe you're bipolar because that is one GRANDIOSE idea!

Now, scurry along I have never been impressed with you and the only thing that becomes more and more obvious without every post from you is how mentally ill you really are. And my dear, THAT is a professional opinion.

I have a life, I have friends, I have family, I have a great career and plenty of people who love me both on the boards and MORE IMPORTANTLY . . . IN REAL LIFE!

Spend some quality time with yourself . . . I know that's hard because you can't stand yourself and hate yourself . . . but the time will be well spent as you need a LOT OF WORK!

Stop wasting your time/effort on me. You will NEVER pull me into the morass of problems that YOUR life has become for you!

After this message you will be permanently blocked.
"

I'm slightly confused because I do not have a blog, so I am wondering if maybe this person got me mixed up with someone else.  But that seems like kind of a big mistake to make.

Honestly, I'm more confused than offended.  But I do find it offensive for someone to say that they would not want any advice from someone that has a mental illness.  I have been pretty open on this forum about my mental illness.  And I know there are a number of people on this forum that have depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, etc.  Anyone that refuses to accept any help or support from anyone with a mental illness is really denying themselves a lot of help and support.  And it's sad that someone that claims to work in the mental health field would be so prejudiced.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Whoever this person may be, they are an ass. And,I doubt any sory of professional as they claim. No one with any training in psychology would talk to someone that way. Ignore the idiot.

Clearly that person is not in the "psychiatric research" field, nor is a mental health professional. Maybe has some experience with it, but in no way is a professional.

Maybe they were thinking of your posts this week on BF?

No idea...I don't pay crazy people any mind. It's futile to put reason into their thinking.

But you...you bother because you care. We can see that and appreciate it. Keep on being you.

I don't know.  Maybe they meant my posts on BF.  But they said they saw my pictures on my blog and there are not any pictures of me on BF.  The whole thing was a bit confusing but it sounded like they were saying that based on both my posts and the pictures on my non-existent blog, they determined I was mentally ill.  I think I have one pic on my profile, and then there is the pic that is my avatar, and I think I actually look fairly  normal in both of them so I'm not sure what they meant.

Kelly, you look normal and you ARE normal.  Having a mental illness does not preclude you from being normal.  It also doesn't preclude you from giving some of the best advice on these boards.  Don't let this one evil, hurtful, fool bother you in the slightest.  Some people live to play the martyr and hurt others. They don't deserve your advice or your friendship.

PS - If it happens to be that woman from yesterday, then I can't say I'm surprised.

Well, we ALL took that college course on identifying mental illness via photographs, right...?!?   Pffft!

Between stuff here and at work, this has been a doozy of a week as far as "WTH?" and "WTF?" stuff.  It really has been a weird week.
