PISSED

So I went for my ultrasound today and they found gallstones. She didnt see any sludge but definitly saw stones. I dont want to get it removed. I am going to Japan on May 10th and this surgery is really putting a damper on things. Not only can I not afford the surgery right now but also dont want to deal with pain of surgery, dealing with insicions, going on a 22 hour journey that includes 6 different planes so early after a surgery b/c of blood clots and to top it off...finding a way to take time of work to have this freaking surgery. I am super pissed off because I talked to my surgeon after I had RNY about going on Actigal. He said not everyone has problems and actigal can put alot of strain on your liver so he is against it. Well thanks a lot buddy. Now Im stuck dealing with this **** I would really rather keep my gallbladder. There's really no other option for me huh?

Sorry about my rant.

For me, gallbladder surgery was no big deal at all.

Had the surgery on a Thursday and was back at work on Monday.

I do have a question for your - why would you rather keep your gallbaldder?

I put off surgery.  I ended up in the ER with unretractable nausea and vomiting, extreme pain, peritonitis, a week of NPO waiting for that to resolve and finally an open cholecystectomy.

You can put it off only so long, but eventually it will neee to come out, especially if there are stones.

THIS.

I knew I had gallstones for years and years but put off having mine out because I didn't want to deal with it. I finally got pancreatitis, had to have emergency surgery and was in the hospital for nearly a week. :(

Had you not developed stones you would be thankful that you weren't taking a medication you didn't need.

Doctors can't see the future they make the best decisions they can with the information they have.

I also asked for the drug you mentioned and my Dr said no too. I haven't had any issues yet, but I already had a few gall stones before surgery so I'm just kinda waiting for it to happen. I understand your reasons on why you don't want to get the surgery but it really should be healed fine by May. I've had a few relatives have theirs removed and they were fine in a week. I don't think blood clots would be an issue 2 months later. Get it done asap and you'll be good to go in May.

Do you not have health insurance? That would be the only reason in my mind to not go through with the surgery. I had mine removed 5 months after I was banded and it was so easy. I went to my daughter's wedding a month later and had no problems at all. This involved flying from Hawaii to Texas - not as far as you will be going but still significant. In fact, when I went to my month post op appt with the surgeon when he released me to all activities, I said well, that's good because I'm pretty much doing everything anyway.

I hope you can find a way to get it done then you won't ever have to worry about it again.

Now it seems that my surgeon is a month from now!! Seriously?? I cant wait a month!! I feel like I'm just screwed. I would have much rather taken unnecessary preventive medicine than be dealing with this **** right now.

ANY surgeon can remove a gallbladder.  It is one of the easiest and most common surgeries.  Just get a different surgeoon, for heaven's sake!
