lol... I can see that... that kid - was me at one time... even now... I feel like that... but at the same time... I am also a parent...  the "reasonable one"... If you do not want "X,  Y , Or Z.. then I guess you are not realy hungry...". .

Oh, girl.. my kid apparently has different sections of her stomach.. she will say she is done with her dinner (and dramatically insist that she'll be sick if she eats another bite). Then turn around and ask for some junk food. "But you said you are so full that you will be sick." "I am! I'm full of chicken but I still have room for cookies." And heaven forbid if I try to be rational and explain to her that the stomach doesn't work that way. Sigh. At least I will hold out and not let her have the cookies. I don't care if she cries and throws a fit. She'll eventually stop.. she has to sleep some time! lol

I use this same analogy (eating anything vs. a specific food) it definitely has been eye opening as to when I'm "really" hungry.

Cleopatra_Nik, you are not only articulate, but really funny. Your posts are saving my day.

My inner child pretty much runs the show.
That's the old me, though. Now the adult me is taking back the power. That inner child  throws a mean tantrum.

For expressing so incisively the ideas that bounce around in my skull all day, thanks!

Still laughing at the kid hearing "stand in solidarity the the hungry" when s/he wants a cooooookiee.
And the addiction, getting only carrot sticks, packing up its crayons and stomping away...
Heh heh.

This may be why my 10 year old regularly uses such phrases as:

"I was just being whimsical..."

OR

"Mom, are you mocking me?"

LOL.

I remember my one major tearful moment when I was postop.... I realized that I wasn't craving food, I wasn't craving certain tastes... I was craving that feeling of being delightfully full (aka stuffed).... THAT was what I enjoyed and the true source (one of them anyway) of why I got so obese.... I didn't care about teh quality of the food, or the taste, I just liked to be full.... and that was what I went through withdrawals over. I remember realizing in a moment of clarity that the ONE thing I did get out of food was going to be denied to me forever... because no matter what, "full" was never going to be what it used to be.

Perhaps, for me, that was the secret of my success, because food itself, taste, etc. ... NOT my trigger. My trigger, my ultimate weakness was literally surgically altered beyond recognition.

Great words of wisdom Nik.
I still struggle with feeling satisfied rather than full.
If I take that one extra bite I'm in pain & miserable for a time.
I like that I eat mindfully now.
I taste spices more & have definite opinions about the food I eat.

Nik, that line about standing in solidarity with the millions of hungry people...damn, girl. You're good. I might have to memorize that for my darling crotch fruit.
