I got the job!
Yep... I have scheduled a couple of vacation days from work in a few weeks so I can work on my dissertation uninterrupted for a few days rather than just the weekend and sporadic evening time (when my brain is half fried from working all day).

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
we could use someone like you here. You would think here in the NY metro area, we could find a good psych or psychologist but it isnt' easy I went for my eval and she spent an hour and a half asking me yes and no questiongs totally geared just so she could right the letter to the insurance to clear me. I don't even think she was half listening or cared what my answers were because if I tried to give any detail, half way through, she would say - that is enough, I got what I need. It was pretty infuriating. I could have been totally mentally challenged and she never would have known. She never asked about family background or help I would have postop. She was more concerned about my medical conditions than my psycological status. to me, it shouldnt' be her place to evaluate me based on my medical problems if they werent affecting me psycologically and she never would have know the difference anyway
the entire screening was a joke - litterly, question after question to write her letter and she was typing the letter into the computer as I spoke - several times she asked me to slow down with my comments so she could type it. She wasn't recording anything on tape.
then after this disasterous visit, I gave her my insurance cards - she proceeds to say she doesnt' take insurance. Is that something she should have informed me before I came? or atleast before the visit started? It wasn't posted anywhere in her office, which was a make shift office in someone elses office. So, then I go to give her a credit cards and I am sure you can figure by now, she didn't take credit cards either. By now I was livid. Her fee for this psych clearance was like $250 or $300, I can't remember but I dont' carry that much cash and I dont' carry a check book and if I did, I don't have a spare $300 in there. So, needless to say she was ticked off that I couldn't pay her but not as much as I was that she wouldn't take my insurance or a credit card. So, now she is trying to pin me down to the exact day that I will pay her. I told her that I will have to pay over time, like $60 a month for 4 or 5 months and she wasnt' happy - she actually put it in writing and made me sign it, saying that if I didnt' pay, she would charge late fees - it was a bad situation.
Needless to say, I paid as soon as I could. Told my surgeon to not refer patients to her and if anyone wanted to go = to please make sure they know they have to pay up front and cash. I dont' know what it is like where you are but I have never seen a psychologist or psychiatrist not take insurance or a credit card. People dont' have cash
