I started using Miralax today. Is it ok to take it daily, like forever (I mean long term, LOL)? I was taking an ex-lax every night for a while but it causes cramps and discomfort. I am really hoping the Miralax works for me because since surgery I have issues going.

ETA: Also.. how long does it usually take to start making me regular?

I've been taking it every day for about a year. It doesn't seem to help me unless I take it daily. It doesn't seem to work as an needed laxative, only as a daily treatment for me. My doctor prescribes it to me and my insurance pays for me to have a daily dose.
I found it takes a few days to begin to work regularly. I don't miss a dose because if I do it seems to take a few days again to start working.

My gi doc told me to take it daily but it worked too good and I had accidents, ew. So now I take it once a week and I take benefiber twice a week, works perfect

i take it daily...once in while i miss a day, but not too often..i also take 2 stool softners a day (colace), one in the morning and one at night before bed...my PCM gives me a script for them both...i have been taking them for just shy of a year now and no problems...

I'm back to taking it daily. I had cut back to three times a week - but my body got its revenge - in a very painful way.

I'm also taking Colace and adding flax meal to my protein shakes.

Don't ask me how we lost to Baylor. I can't figure it Out either!
