I think it would potentially clog the filter

I would be very, VERY careful with adding anything to your machine. I recently took care of a man who had a fungal infection in his lungs that he got from his machine. Unfortunately, he didn't clean it every night like he should have, he didn't change the filter regularly, and he didn't change the tubing/mask every three months like he should have. Think about the fact that you're using pressure to push the air into your lungs...what if whatever you add to it isn't pure? You'll be flooding your lungs with that- deep into your lungs for hours at a time. That's why we use distilled water in the chamber- to keep the machine clean and to avoid contamination from any sort of "bugs" that could be in tap water. I know his case is unusual but he died because of the infection and it could have been prevented by simply following the instructions regarding keeping the machine clean. So, I really get where you're coming from but make sure you speak to not only your doctor but a sleep specialist or pulmonologist (lung doctor) before you make a decision. Good luck but please, be careful!
