My very first "TMI/Women only" post...

I can’t believe I finally have my own TMI post! I haz arrived!

Ok, firstly I have a GYN appointment scheduled already for the spring, but some weird stuff has happened so I wanted to get opinions but I certainly realize this is all stuff I should discuss with my doctor.

So yesterday I’m in church and I get this shooting pain in my pelvic region. It was brief but pretty painful, but it passed. Not thinking much about it, a short time later I went to the bathroom. I was spotting, which was strange because it’s not that time yet (and you can normally set a calendar by my cycle). Also the spotting wasn’t bright red, as it tends to be at the start of my cycle, but dark.

This continued last night each time I went to the bathroom. It isn’t much. Just a trace.

So I just went to the bathroom and this…thing…came out of me. It was bloody and very small and looked like a lint fuzz ball. There was no pain. Just this thing.

What do we know about this? I should say that short of immaculate conception there is no possibility of me being pregnant (sad, yes, I know…). This is all very strange though. I don’t know that I should move up my GNY appointment because of this (it’s in about a month).

Any thoughts?

Lint fuzz ball?

You sure it wasn't just an old clot?  Was it brown or red?

Also, if you use tampons, it could possibly be just a piece of that sort of left-over, kwim?  Was it smaller than a quarter?  Larger than that and I'd say call the gyno.

Nope, not a tampon user. Could have been an old clot. I might just be falsely associating the pelvic pain and the bleeding.

Hmmmm...

Wonder if it was one of those hair ball things that grow under the skin? a cyst like something that had popped and drained maybe?

I had a hystorectomy when I was 35, that was 11 years ago. And I too have a sharp shooting pain in my pelvic area on occassion. My GYN doctor did lots of testing and finally after a through ultrasound they found adhesions that were wrapped around the one overy that I have left.. The adhesions are like vines that wrap and pull on the organs and that's where the severe pain was coming from.  Since I like having the overy that produces enough hormones for me that I don't have to take suppliment hormones. I opted out of surgery at this time to fix it. The sharp pains are very intense but they don't last long.

Nik, unless you are in constant pain or severe bleeding, I think I would just keep the appointment that you already have. But if it gets worse, you might want to move up the appointment.

Thanks! Yes, I made note of it so I don’t forget to mention it.

I believe this year I have to start doing mammograms too (both my maternal grandmother and great-aunt died of breast cancer so my GYN told me I’d have to start testing earlier than most women). That does not sound fun. At all.

Thanks again for your input.

After several mammograms it's just normal routine.  I just wish they would remember to warm up the plates before they lay "my ladies" on them.  The pelvic exam, to me, is worse than a mammogram and let's not talk about a colonoscopy.

As far aas your issue, before I had a hysterectomy, I had those problems they finally decided to give me a D&C but that was over 20 years ago so don't know what they do now.  I am sure it is not related to a heart attack or a traoke so don't worry yourself about it or maybe it will lead to stress whihc can in turn lead to other problems.  Keep your already scheduled appointment.  I always forget about the problems I have because they go away by the time I get to the doctor so if you think you might have that problem, have them put it in you records before you go.  I am at the age where I forget by the time I go to the doctor.  Remember anytime you go to the doctor to tell them everything since the doctor is just a practice and they treat by what you tell them.  If you do not tell them everything they can possibly misdiagnose you.  Good luck at your appointment.  I have one in an hour and I think I already forgot what I am suppose to be telling her.  Better go right it down while I am thinking about it.

 Ruptured Ovarian cyst maybe?

Hope it's nothing serious!

I had them. That's what I thought. In the past - during ovulation - sometimes I had symptoms like that.
There was a 3-4 years tiem that I always knew when I ovulated.  Did bunch of tests and the cysts were the issues.
