OT: (Long overdue) Update on my house situation
I decided to keep up the BF tradition of blogging my meatless Fridays and this year I'm aiming to come up with new stuff. So we shall see where that leads me. Lent starts Wednesday!
RNY Gastric Bypass 1-8-08 350/327/200 (HW/SW/CW). I spend most of my time playing with my food over at Bariatric Foodie - check me out!
Best of luck Nik..and you've got prayers coming your way..We are in the middle of moving as well..Its only about 7 miles to our new place and we would like to be out of our current house by March 4th..but sorting/packing/getting rid of stuff that hasn't seen the light of day in years is so hard with 3 kids! Keep us all updated.

We've been in a similar situation, being military and having short-notice moves. If they don't have space for us on base, we gotta find somewhere offbase, and that can be difficult on a time crunch when you have very specific requirements....which we do.
I don't have much advice, except start shopping and contacting potential landlords. A lot of them, if you explain your situation, will be flexible in holding a house for you if you have SOME idea of when you'd be moving. The more a landlord or management company knows you and the better relationship you have with them, the easier it will be working out a financial arrangement. And don't ever be shy to ask for exceptions.
When I moved this past December, I stayed within the same management company, but changed houses within the same city. I had almost $2,000 tied up in deposits and move-out charges for the old house, and couldn't afford to put new deposists down until I got the old ones refunded...which would take a month. So I just asked if they'd allow me to pay it in installments, and they agreed. I borrowed a little from family and emptied my savings, but eventually got it all paid off by the time my old ones were refunded.
Wow, what a bloggy, rambly babble. Sorry. But anyway, yeah--lots of communication with landlords, and I'm sure you can work something out. Good luck!! Moving can be obnoxious. But it's worth it if you get a great place!

I am glad the bank is at the very least working with you. My sister was in a situation where her house payment tripled.. She tried to work with the bank to reset her loan because her house was so far under water it was sickening (paid over 400k, home barely worth 100k). They basically told her to get out of the house, then the bank turned around and sold her house for 98k. The bank could have even reset her loan to 200k and came out ahead but NOOO. Jerks!
Anyway I hope the investors buying the place works out to buy you some extra time for moving. My fingers and toes and everything else that can be crossed, are crossed for you!
