confused about fiber
Hi everyone, I am sooo confused about fiber. In November I started adding fiber powder to my daily routine, at first it seemed fine and I maintained my weight. In December about a week after Christmas I was 6-7pounds and it still hasn't dropped off. I'm wondering if the fiber is bloating or bulking me up. I'm 3.5 years out from RNY and I use 2 teaspoons of fiber a day. I'm just do confused. any feedback would be great.
Could there be another explanation for your weight gain? You said it happened around Christmas. This tends to be a time of very rich foods and some overindulgences. Could that be a factor in your situation?
Have you been having regular bowel movements? Do you actually feel bloated? Constipation can give the appearance of weight gain.
You say you are 3.5 years out. As I understand this is also a time for more challenges with weight as the malabsorption part of RNY wains. Perhaps you might need to get back to "the Basics" if you have drifted a little from the "Protein first, no fluids with meals, journaling food, exercising" mantra.
