wow the only time I have trouble going to the bathroom is when I take pain pills, then I have to make sure that I take benefiber other than that I go everyday, when I had my surgery my grandmother always said make sure you drink a hot cup of water with the juice of a half of lemon in it the first thing every morning and that keeps me going regularly every day, don't know why but it does and I do this every morning for almost 2 years now and no problem, except when I take pain pills which is not often Thank goodness.

I haven't had any problems. If I ever think I 'might' be having problems, all I have to do is go to a personal training session and be running late... then it all of a sudden becomes urgent RIGHT THEN. I guess it is the protein shake / banana/ PB2 I have every trip to the pT???

In the beginning I was constipated. My friend gave me some metamucil and it cured the problem When I finally went it was like birthin a baby!  Now I drink metamucil with a tablespoon or two twice a day and I go twice a day.  Big huge ones!

Funny thing is drinking plain water bothers my stomach but I can chug the metamucil.  It actually helps me get my water intake up.  Plus its just psyillum husks....more natural!

Thanks for starting this post, Cleopatra_Nik. I had my surgery on the first and have really only gone twice since then. I figured it was because there wasn't much food going through but today I definitely felt constipated. I had to have two meals in a row of 1/2 c 1% cottage cheese to get things going. The milk protein doesn't agree with me so that's all I could think of doing. Still took me about 15 minutes with lots of rocking.

I'm thinking of getting some Ducolax suppositories tomorrow and wonder how often those can be used. I do have individual Benefiber packets (1 gram) and could add those to my water. In another post someone suggested 1/4 c of prune juice works for them. I'm at the point where I can start adding some dry cereal but not sure bran buds are something that is recommended (more like Rice Crispies, Cheerios, Life, Special K, puffed rice).

My NUTS say 'no' to laxatives. Especially if they are a normally reoccurring event.

I user fiber Splenda in my morning and evening tea. When there is uh hmm no issue, I drink 1/4 cup of prune juice. Usually good with 8-24 hours.

This post has my DD and me giggling----
I have 2 words for all of you: KING TURDS!!!!

Basically, for me it is either a turd with it's own zip code or little black goat turds----

I have no idea why, but since my RNY my turds are HUGE!!!!! And around my 1 year surgiversary, I began feeling everything as it moved through my digestive tract----it is so weird.

Anyway, if you are new out there, fiber in your drinks is a good thing. I also will indulge in low fat popcorn once in a while to keep things moving as a high protein diet = little black goat turds.

Have fun with this one-----everyone poos!

I would like to say that my excretory system is whack!  Some days I'm "normal" with normal consistency and everything.  Sometimes I even go more than once per day.  Then other days, just once.  Then I'll go a day or 2 and NOTHING happens.  Then the next day it comes, but it's really hard and hurts while it's coming.  Then another day it's literally like water coming out the backside all day long.  I try to figure out if it's what I'm eating, but I haven't been able to pin point anything specific.  My poo has a mind of its own.

So after I had a few incidents where I was so stopped up I was afraid I was gonna "Elvis" out on the toilet I decided to try a stool softener - which worked but i was having to take them daily. So I started a new approach:
I eat 2 prunes a day and take 1 tablespoon of liquid probiotics daily - and it works!!!! I go everyday - no Elvis.

I take stool softeners 2 x day (Senekot with senna) and some days I have to add Miralax to that mix. I keep trying more "natural" remedies but so far prune juice upsets my pouch and probiotics (even the expensive ones) do not seem to make a difference. I keep experimenting. Sigh

I am like an above poster...if nothing happens in 24hrs, I know I'm in trouble!!!!

P.S. Dulcolax (which my dr's ofc promotes) causes so much discomfort that I try to avoid it like the plague!
