Question about an incision?

so one of my incisions is itchy and yesterday it started looking a little swollen.  I'm 7 weeks post op and at my appointment last week the NP told me it might be a stitch trying to come through.  Should I go back to have it looked at?  I don't know what could be done about it other than them cutting it open?

She also told me last week that they are all healed with scar tissue and stuff.

I hate to go back for nothing.

I had a couple little stitches that were exposed and I finally snipped it off. They weren't hurting anything except I could feel them.

I've cut a few stitches and pulled a couple out w/scabs.. lol.  By 7 weeks it's all healed up.

Is there redness w/the swelling?

I would keep a eye on it, you don;t want to get a infection. Try not to scratch it, I know it is hard. You may want to apply a anti-itch cream to avoid the scratching.

I agree. Although your wounds on the exterior have health keep in mind that adipose tissue take months to heal, so sometimes itching may indicate healing. But if the site becomes elevated swollen, and warm to the touch, is a indication of an infection. Our nails contain SO MUCH bacteria, and you may end up scratching at night, introducing bacteria or staph to your post op wound.! So putting a Hydrocortisone Anti-itch cream wouldn't be a bad idea. BUT if your wound has been exposed in any manner, please do not put it on.

I put some anti itch cream on it and so far so good... it's not red or swollen right now.  I'll keep my mits off it and keep an eye on it.
