Yum, homemade banana yogurt!

I made some banana yogurt yesterday but just now actually ate some of it.  Yum!  It's funny, I was not a huge fan of yogurt before surgery but now I love it.  And I love it even more since I started making my own recently.  I might have to start buying more milk so I can make more yogurt!

I want to buy some sugar free raspberry syrup so I can make some raspberry yogurt but that is going to have to wait a bit because I am short of cash at the moment.  So far I've made butterscotch and banana and love them both.  Carbmaster makes a vanilla chai yogurt that is good, so I am wondering if I could make a similar flavor.  Or what about some sort of cappuccino flavored yogurt?

Sounds yummy.  You are inspiring my to try to make my own yogurt.  Are you finding that it saves you money as well?  With 3 kids that all love to eat yogurt I find we go through a lot.

It is saving me money.  I'm trying to think how much I pay for a quart of plain Greek yogurt at the grocery.  3.99, maybe?  And I pay about $5 for a gallon of milk (if you buy milk at the grocery store it will cost less, of course), and I use a little over one quart (less than two quarts, though) to make a quart of Greek yogurt myself, so I guess I spend less than $2 to make a quart of yogurt so I save a little over $2.

It's not very time consuming, either.  It takes a while to make it, but most of that time it's just sitting there.  I just have to make sure it's at the right temperature, but I don't have to do anything to it.

I used to think it would be really hard to make but I'm finding that it's not.  I made a couple less-than-great batches while I got the process all worked out.  This latest batch came out a bit runnier than usual for some reason, I have no clue why, but after I strained it to get Greek yogurt I could not longer tell a difference.

That’s interesting. I was always under the impression that a lot of milk yields a lesser amount of yogurt. If that’s not true, I need to take another look at making my own!

Hey Kelly, Davinci SF syrup comes in Chai Tea flavor.  I just purchased a huge bottle at Home Goods for $6.00 if there's one near you.  We had been shopping in Ann Arbor and found it there.

Kelly - tell me how you make the banana yogurt- just slicing them up and letting them sit, blending them, just how do you do it?  I think I will like it.  I eat yogurt every day.

I make a quart of plain Greek yogurt and mix in a package of sugar free banana pudding mix.  And then slice half a banana on top when I'm ready to eat it.
