Poll: Are there foods that intimidate you?

Meat. Sounds silly, but I will go for veggies, pre-made meats, or just plain old ground chuck or turkey before anything else. I just never know what cuts to get to make things. I would love to make a roast or swiss steak or puuled pork, but I just have no clue where to even start.

I can cook a lot of things, but don't have me cook meat for you. Artichokes, pineapple, quinoa, coconuts, mushrooms...none of that intimidates me like meat does...

Quinoe cooks just like rice. You just stick it in a pot of boiling water and stir until done. It'll srpout a little germ when it's done, and it will be firm, but tender.  I LOVE quinoe, and it mixes wit anything. You can make it sweet like oatmeal or mix it with cheese and broccoli for a casserole,or plain as a side for chicken. Very versatile, and it's a complete protein.

Hummus is pretty dynamite as well. I love it smeared on a sandwich or as a dip for raw veggies.

I toss chickpeas on salads.

I just made the most divine curried chickpeas. Even the kids are "smashing" on them, as they like to say.

The recipe will go up on Bariatric Foodie later this week. It's a crockpot recipe so super easy!

Oooh, as an aside, my absolute favorite way to eat avocado is to cut it up into little chunks and spinkle with garlic powder, salt and cayenne pepper... then ENJOY!

So awesome... so worth trying.  I have several friends who swore they didn't like avocados, that is... until they tried one this way!

If you like Tuna, mix it with avocado and garlic salt, and lemon pepper.  Good fats and good protein and then enjoy.  Yum..
