I came across this by accident and couldn't believe what I was seeing, thought I would pass it along.  can't believe they are trying to pass this as an alternative to gastic bypass

Scary.  Not only becuase they are presenting "gastric bypass" as a restrictive-only procedure which obviously it is not, but the idea that people will be filling themselves up with some mystery fiber "goo" that will force them to only be able to eat a small amount (what kind of material will be staying in your stomach and not moving for 16 hours?!? Yikes!)  and I guess you just have to use trial and error to know how much of the stuff to take since no one knows the size of their own stomach relative to an "average" stomach).

Then there is also their completely manufactured claim that 1 out of every 350 gastric bypass patients die from the surgery... and the $640 price tag.. and their claim that most people get to their weight loss goal in 2-5 months!

No, the are no red flags here...!

it scared the hell out of me when I read it.  I can't believe the medical community hasn't done anything to get it off the market.  I agree with everything you said, it is so dangerous.  It made me think  that these people that are trying to avoid surgery are going to end up in surgery do to a this mistery fiber that could solidify after being in the stomach for so long.  Who knows what could happen long term -it is really scary.

If they want to compare it to any surgery, they should compare it to the sleeve, smaller stomach and no malabsorbtion.

I wish there was a way we could get the word out there to stay away

I couldn't believe it either! There is no way this works, let alone long term! It is just a diet for diet sake. I hope people stay away from this!! Lora said it best: "No, there are not red flags here...!

Roca Labs is ringing a bell with me - don't they sue anyone who dares to write a negative review of their product?
