how often do you do blood work
Some people do it more often than others.
Most docs recommend it every three months the first year. Then either once or twice a year. I do mine every six months. I think a whole year is too long to go without labs.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I agree with poet-kelly. Once you get to the year mark, do not leave your labs to "one time a year only". There' s too much that can go wrong.
I did so as recommended by my surgeon, and my iron completely tanked this year. I'm at a ferritin level of 5 (maybe less now) and my usual level is 100-110!!! I'm waiting to see how my current batch of bloodwork turned out and then may have to be referred to a hematologist to get iron transfusions. Go at least 2 x a year...3 is even better.
