Three carbs that are worth it...

With the post about Kim's Magic Pop, I thought I'd list a few carbs I think are worth it:

Pop rice (or the magic pop)

What is it?: A popped rice cake that is thin, light and very crispy. Most stores that carry them have a special machine to make them.

Why is it worth it: They are like 16 calories and 4g carbs. Find a serving of crackers that can beat those numbers. I dare you!!! You can eat tuna on it, peanut butter on it. Damn near anything on it, and still come out ahead!

Yeah, but what's the catch: I haven't found one yet. Maybe that they get stale fast, even if you seal them up well. So if you live alone, have a plan to use them.

Fiber One Original

What is it?: Seriously?

Why is it worth it?: Half a cup = 14g fiber (25 carbs total so 9 net grams of carbs) and they add a nice crunch to the top of yogurt. I also make them into crumbs for crumb crusts and to coat chicken nuggets (just sub the crumbs I list on the recipe for fiber one crumbs) and mozzarella sticks.

Yeah, but what's the catch?: The texture doesn't agree with everyone and if you aren't a fan of "Come to Jesus" bathroom moments, they could be problematic for you.

Arctic Zero Frozen Dessert

What is it?: A frozen dessert that is sold at Whole Foods and other retailers.

Why is it worth it?: RIDICULOUSLY low-cal. Like a half cup serving is 32 calories? You could eat the whole pint it comes in for 150 calories (not that I ever thought about doing that). And it has a bit more protein than most frozen desserts have.

Yeah, but what's the catch?: Some of the flavors are a bit weak but check it. At 32 calories a serving you can put damn near anything ON it and still come out ahead. I try to keep it honest. On the chocolate flavor, I nuke a tablespoon of natural peanut butter and a big dollop of fat-free whippage. Or a portion of sugar-free caramel sauce and whippage. Or nuts and whippage. Or sugar-free chocolate sauce and whippage. DO YOU GET WHERE I AM GOING WITH THIS??? And aside from the peanut butter and nut sundaes...none of these manages to be over 100 calories for a full ice cream sundae.

Fiber one 90 cal brownies.

The 2 I eat a day are worth 180 calories as they keep me going daily!

Quinoa is also a carb I eat on a regular basis! It does not cause the cravings pasta and rice give me and adds some wonderful texture to my meals!

You turned me onto the Coco pops a couple months ago and I LOVE THEM! Great with some Laughing Cow or just plain when I need a bit of crunch :)

See #1 on my list. And it's Coco-Pop. But has nothing to do with chocolate, believe it or not.
