I can't say....I've steered clear of sugar - not willing to risk it.  I have eaten somethings that are too rich and get nausated so I don't eat that any more.

I don't dump.  I have been to known to get nauseous if I eat crap, but it would not qualify as dumping.  No sweats, no racing heart, no running to the bathroom.  More like my body reminding me that crap (sweets or high fat food) is bad for me.

I answered in the other thread as well.. but I just don't know if I "dump" or not. If I have too much sugar, sugar alcohol I feel like a Hoover vacuum has been hooked to my spine... but not gastric distress, nausea, sweating, etc

I don't dump with sugar, but fatty fried foods make me sick.  I haven't done anything crazy with sugar....no bag of jelly beans or anything, but I have enjoyed more than a normal serving of Christmas cookies with no ill effects.  I have only dumped once,  with of all things fried wonton skins that were on a salad!!!  It's really easy to say no to fried foods after that episode.  I think it's easier to avoid fried foods...they are pretty obvious but sugar lurks behind the scenes in so many restaurant foods, it would be really hard to stay clear of them all.

Good question!  My surgeon says that most of his patients dump, and the people in my support group say that their dumping has gone away with time....2-3 years out.  Thank you for asking this question, it does make you wonder!

Kelly,
So how would I know i'm a dumper?!?! I'm almost 5 weeks out... I've tried regular gatorade, apple juice, ate a non sugar free popsicle. Oh and I've also drank the non sugar free carnation instants once(not on purpose) . Nothing has happened. Does this mean I'm not a dumper or atleast a serious one??
Haven't eaten or tried anything like chocalate or cake. Today is my husbands birthday and instead of buying him a whole cake I bought him a slice of cake....was thinking about taking a bite of it later after dinner but scared out of my mind!!!!! Love to hear your input!

It means you don't dump on the amount of sugar you've had so far.  Doesn't mean that you will or will not dump if you eat larger amounts of sugar.

I took a bite of a bday cake with rich buttercream frosting.  One bite...I was sick for over 2 hours...nasty wicked bathroom experience to boot.  Never ever again!  I thought my heart was going to pound out of my chest along with having to change my clothes as they were all wet.  Sadly I can eat 2 oatmeal cookies (made with splenda) and not have any problems.  They are my end of the night treat when I have an extremely rough day.

Like today...getting laid off is not good for an anxiety eater like me.  Im trying to stay away from the cookies but is is soooo hard today.
