The Bariatric Foodie Pledge has BEGUN!
I'm glad you posted. I saw your pledge and think it's a great one but wanted to ask you, how do you plan to measure it? At the end of the week I'm going to call for you to say whether or not you succeeded at your goal, what challenged you and what you'll do to keep the goal up.
How do you know if your goal is successful?
(By the way, you aren't the only one I've asked this question)
Have you ever heard of a S.M.A.R.T. goal? That stands for goals that are Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely. I'm a big believer in them as it leaves the success of my goals LESS in my mind (where I always end up a failure) and more in the hands of objective and provable data.
Just some thoughts from my warped brain. At the end of the day I am so psyched you're taking part in The Pledge.

Every time I look in the mirror I am never happy...I always have had a lack of confidence in myself because of my weight...Everyday I plan to tell myself I am beautiful and work on accepting myself for who I am...My lack in self esteem tends to damage my relationship with my husband because of my insecurities...
I think this goal to boost my self esteem will take longer then a week to accomplish but I have to start somewhere...
Correct me if I'm wrong but you just resolved to tell yourself that you love yourself every time you look in the mirror this week. THAT can be measured. It can be proven that you achieved it.
And this isn't about proving this to me. Or to anyone else. Big things like self-esteem can be tricky goals. At the end of four weeks you may or may not feel exponentially better about yourself but you CAN say you've worked on it and have proof that even your head and food demons can't take away from you (and trust me, they will try). That is what a SMART goal is about.
Give it some thought. Either way, it's your process and I won't mess it up for you. What do I know, anyway? After all, I'm STILL working on the self-esteem thing 4.5 years later.
But I do want to make sure you recognize your own awesomeness in taking on such a big and IMPORTANT goal. I am rooting for you!

And I changed my goal. Now it's to get all three doses of calcium in, every day.

They aren't for the small business at all these days. There are a bunch of companies that would charge me TONS of loot to run this contest. You'd click on a link I give you, write your pledge then it'd want to install an app on your FB or Twitter and deliver me a list of who posted what along with more of your personal information than you prolly want me to have.
But I didn't want to do that for many reasons. Doing it "by hand" is much more labor intensive but to me respects my readers privacy and my bottom line, as neither I nor BF is wealthy.
Oh but FB is having none of that! Grrrrr....
(Ok...rant over. Sorry...hadda get that out!)
