quest protein bars

Hi Nikki!! Can you message me with your wisdom on eating??
I was excited that I really liked the Quest bars...at 200 cals and 20 g protein, I thought I hit paydirt. Your above statement gave me the impression that you aren't too impressed with the numbers? I'm really trying to get good habits and a good menu going right now...if you can suggest "rules" you eat by...or suggest anything, I'd really appreciate it!!

Oh no, not at all. It’s a perfect balance. What I was saying is that if I’m going to eat a 200 calorie bar, I want to be full. A lighter bar might have me hungry again in an hour. So then what? Another 200 calories? No way!
Quest bars are a MEAL if I eat a whole one and a good, filling snack if I go for half. That’s what I want. To not be hungry again for a long, long time, LOL!
P.S. Nik's wisdom on eating "I like doing it but it's not always the best idea."

They are sooo good! My dog and I just finished a cinnamon roll too, I find it a bit spicy, almost a "red-hots" kind of cinnamon, not a "baking cinnamon" if that makes any sense.
I do like that flavor though. I can't eat the sucralose sweetened line, I am really digging the new line of them though! I like all flavors - I can't pick just one! I would have to say that it's a tie between strawberry and lemon though, for my fav.
I don't eat one at a clip, I pick on it all day. Like if I am having some coffee, I have a nibble or two of the bar, and I feel like I am having such a treat, when really I am eating something really good for me!

I've samples all the flavors in the original line, and all but the lemon in the new natural line. My favorites are the apple and PB&J in the original line and the strawberry cheesecake in the natural line. I eat at least one a day and order them by the multiple boxes of the apple and strawberry and a single box of the PB&J. I don't taste and "pie" in the apple or "cheesecake" in the strawberry, but I like it that way. The big chunks of dried apples and strawberries are out of this world. The PB&J is a lot like their original peanut butter bar, but with the added hint of jelly flavor. I only eat them when I'm in the mood for something different.
My consumption strategy is two fold. If I'm replacing a full meal, I'll eat most, if not all of the bar (depends on the type of pouch day I'm having). If I'm in need of a few snack while out and about, I'll cut the bar in half and stick the two halves in snack size zip lock bags and eat a half when a snack is called for. I couldn't imagine making this journey without Quest bars. Same goes for Greek yogurt. A little splenda, vanilla extract, and some organic granola, and it's the perfect breakfast. I guess I'd need to add skim milk into that equation since I love making a "faux" egg cream using 8 ozs of skim milk and 4 ozs of diet chocolate soda. Delicious!

Since evryone twisted my arm I finally ordered some samples today, kidding
If even Lisa likes them they must be good! My dietician told me that you can get free shipping if you enter SAMPLE in the promo/gift certificate box. It worked & saved me $5.
Hopefully they are as good as everyone says because I am having a really hard time all of the sudden with shakes and just can't stomach them for the past few weeks. I have a couple hundred dollars worth just sitting here and all of them get my gag reflex lately. I went a little overboard, what can I say, I like variety.

I think they are tasty and filling. I tried my sample chocolate brownie bar today for lunch.
About an hour later though I felt very hypoglycemic, like I have before after a high carb meal. I wonder if it was because of the bar? The numbers don't look like it might cause a hypoglycemic reaction...
I have one more sample (Vanilla) that I'll try again another day. If I have the same reaction I'll know.
I hope it was unrelated, they are tasty.
