Could anyone tell me what a balanced meal should weigh for someone who is almost 7 months out? For example...how many oz of protein, how many oz of veggie and starch. I feel like I am eating too much.
I have a hard time because food doesn't bother me AT ALL. Nothing bothers me. NOTHING. I can eat anything...sugar, fat, bread, all meats etc. I have not even thrown up once in the 7 months since I had surgery. To some of you that sounds like a great thing but it does make it harder because it is all self control. Just like it was before surgery. I have never gotten so full that I could vomit. I thought everyone got that feeling? I rarely feel super full. Oh I'm a mess lol. I could use everyones knowledge!!

I am the same way (except I haven't had bread yet). The closest I came to being "TOO full" was when I had steak, a sweet potato, cherry tomatoes, a shrimp or 2....
Usually I have to make myself stop eating, and it scares me as well because that didn't work so well pre-op
(and I am just now FIVE months postop)
My NUT gave me a sheet with samples of a healthy meal plan... I will try to remember to put some of it up , but it will be tomorrow. Yikes to depending on my worsening memory!

I don't know the answer to your question but I want you to know your post was a relief. I am 10 weeks out and nothing bothers me either. I have not thown up or had any dumping. I don't have a problem with bite size or eating too fast. It is like before my surgery but I am not as hungry.
I am not losing very fast - I just hope I continue to lose.

You only get that feeling if you overeat. Apparently you are eating the correct amounts.
At 7 months out, I was told to eat 3/4 to one cup of food at a time. I did not weight food but measured by volume because my pouch holds a certain volume. There is no scale in there.

I am exactly like you. I think I over ate once, when I tried rice and it HURT! Not stuck, just felt like my stomach was going to burst and I had to lay down until it moved out of there.
My doctor said to do 4 to 6 ounces in volume, like 4 cups they gave you in the hospital. Well, I do 6 more times that not because 4 will leave me starving before my 2 hour time limit.
I do it by grams of protein. I need so many grams per meal, so if I get my grams of protein in then I go for something else, like at lunch I needed 10 grams of protein, which I was full when I got that in, so I could not have my fiber one brownie :( (I love those, don't anyone spoil that for me!) LOL

Hi Amber ~
I'm 8 months out (yesterday) and am in the same boat you are. I can eat pretty much everything BUT I don't. I don't do candy or chips or baked goods (cake, brownies, pie). I have had TINY amounts of pasta and rice - and I mean tiny, even by WL standards! Basically, if it isn't nutritionally beneficial, I try to shy away from it. Don't get me wrong ~ sometimes I want a treat. So I have some trail mix or a graham cracker with some peanut butter or a chocolate protein bar. Sounds boring, but I have to tell you I read these boards religiously and I'm afraid of that one thing that I come across that is the thing that makes me violently ill. Or doesn't. What if I learn I can eat ice cream with no problems. I tell you what - I would be in HUGE trouble.
On top of that, I'm DIGGING how I look. The scale is flying in the right direction. I have never looked like this in my life. There isn't anything I've ever eaten that tasted better than how I feel in a pair of tight jeans. I feel like the hottest, sexiest thing that ever walked the earth. Have never felt like this before, so I'm going with it.
In answer to your question tho, I stick to the guidelines that the Weight & Wellness center provided (you and I had the same surgeon). 3oz of lean protein first. After that, I can only eat a few bites of a grain or a vegetable. For example, tonight I have 3 oz of meatloaf, and 1 string bean and 3/4 of a small (tiny) red potato. And I was full. Sometimes I'm full BEFORE I've finished what I've measured out for myself, and that's ok. I can go back to it later.
If you don't get that feeling, you need to strictly measure your food, eat slow slow slow and don't drink for 30 minutes. I would also avoid those non-beneficial foods. You're still trying to lose, so why even go there?
I am no more experienced at this for you, and it's such a personal thing. I don't intend to sound preachy, so please don't take it that way. I take this day by day. If I have a bad moment, I recognize it for what it was - just a moment. As you said, you need to exercise self-control or you go back to your old ways. I, for one, want to see you succeed!
Best of luck!
Kelly
