The Blessing in My Curse
Well I think I have narrowed down the cause of my “pouch song." (Definition for those unaware: when the digestive system makes loud noises that no amount of repositioning can avoid).
It seems to happen to me in one of two situations:
1. When I’ve eaten something with a SUPER high amount of fiber OR potassium (carrots, bananas, raw veggies, etc.) OR
2. When I’ve eaten too much
Today would be an example. I got a case of the mid-afternoon munchies. Thinking I’m doing good for myself, I mix up a nice protein shake. Big. MISTAKE!!! I swear you can hear every drop of that shake moving through my system. Sphincters are opening and closing. Liquid is gurgling downward. EVERYONE can hear this (I sit in a cubical that I share with a co-worker…a pregnant lady of all people!). This is a disaster.
BUT…trying, as I do, to find positivity in all things, I choose to think of it this way. God has blessed me, at four years post-op, with a deterrent to overeating. I know when I’m doing it. I can still feel the last bite. Difference is that I don’t get violently ill by taking it.
So…I get the pouch song. And it’s embarrassing. Hence, Nik will be working hard to avoid that.
There…the blessing in my curse. Pouch say-eth “URRRRRGGGGLEEEGUUUUURRRRRGGGGGG!" which can be loosely translated as “good luck with that."
