What could be causing my joint stiffness/pain?

I began noticing in my 2nd post-op year that my joints would get stiff. Now if I am sitting a long time they HURT when I get moving again. Once I'm moving I'm fine but it hurts until then.

I am going to schedule some time with my PCP but want to investigate what might be causing this.

Have you noticed a pattern?  Could it be weather related?  You are still young so I don't think it would be arthrites (sp?).  Do you need to add more good fats to your menu?  Your Diva's keep you active, could you just be doing too much?

No, it seems more related to me sitting too long. And especially if I do something like sit Indian style...pain! I have MORE THAN ENOUGH good fats in my diet. I regularly eat almonds, peanuts, avocadoes, salmon, etc.

As for the divas, they are far too sedentary these days. I aim to change that very, very soon.

Welcome to my world!! LOL! Of course, I'm much older than you but this is pretty much my life. However because of your age, I think you are very wise to see your doctor. You'd think after weight loss you wouldn't have these issues. Let us know what's going on once you know.

My arthritis pain appeared fairly suddenly a number of years ago (in my late 30s), and I was told that it frequently happens that way in people who have carried a lot of weight... the arthritis "silently" advances and then rather suddenly you start noticing stiffness and pain, especially when the weather is cold and damp.  There are lots of other medical conditions that can cause joint stiffness, but if you have been experiencing it for somewhere between a year and two years, though, my money is on arthritis.

Sounds like arthritis.  Getting older sucks, huh?  Is it worse in cold weather?  Mine is.

Hi Nik!

I am 40 and starting having severe knee pain in my right knee lately. I dont know how old you are but I think its a combination of age, deterioration of joints, lack of consistent movement, and blood flow. I know for me that my pain gets better after I move or walk.

I am going to start trying MSM, Glucosamine & other joint supplements.. I am not sure what joints are hurting but you can start by uncrossing your legs, alternativing hands when using your mouse for a while, and do exercises at your desk like foot flexing, ankle rolls, wrist rolls, shoulder shrugs, neck rolls etc..

I hope you feel better..
