I have 4 cats and 1 of them pees on the couch (not everyday....just once in a while). I got the "spot bot" and I clean my couch constantly. It works really well! I got that pheramone plug in and that seems to help....but I am going to talk to the vet on Saturday and see if they have any suggestions.

We tried the phermone thing and it did not help for us.

One of my little darlings taught himself to use the commode. He occasionally will use us for target practice if something is wrong. The last time it turns out his littermate was deathly ill. Now his brother, the sick one, want to pee on the carpet where the cat who died two years ago used to have her piddle pads. He would always try to cover it up when she was alive.
It has to be anxietry. They are sending messages in a language they think we understand since whatever they were doing before to get our attention didn't work.
I try to give them extra attention when this happens. I keep Dreft on hand and also use a cat-formulated urine cleaner.
Remember that the pee spreads out in a pyramid shape from where it hit the fabric or carpet so you have to clean a wider area than just the top layer. Make sure the other cats can't still smell it.
Be grateful it's not worse. I have landlord friends who have to rip out drywall and floors (not just the carpet on top) because of this.
I try to give the spayer extra attention when this happens. Sometimes something as simple as a change in litter makes them anxious. You have already had the cat checked by a vet.
At one time I had 8 cats all happily sharing two littermaid litter box. Number 9 would go back and forth between two boxes before she decided to use one or the other. Today we changed the box late and there was a lineup of cats waiting to use the newly cleaned box. It takes all kinds.
I'm sure you know that cats don't like scented litter. They also don't like scented soap when washing a box. Good luck.
