stool softners

just wondering if its ok to take stool softners...before my RNY i had problems going and its even worse now ....

My surgeon recommends Senokot-S if you need to take something. I would recommend clearing this with him. How far out are you?

Jan. 2 will be 6 wks out

 I had surgery 11/29 and just saw my dr. on Wednesday. He recommended Senokot-S if I could handle swallowing a small pill or Dulcolax suppositories if not. I chose the pill, lol. I have also seen several posts recommending Miralax.

I would definitely call my surgeons office and get their recommendation. Each doctor is different.

 Please ask your Dr, but for me....I take 2 every night. Because of the large amount of pain medicine that I take daily I would never go if I didn't. I was told that I could take Mirilax every day if I needed to also.

I take them every day....

My doctor has me taking miralax every other day. 

I take generic colace every day.

I take 6 colace an 1 dose a miralax daily.  I have issues before the surgery and after wards is was soooo much worse.  This pretty much takes care of it.

 I take one Senekot-S in the am..and one in the pm. Everyday!!!!! I also take Benefiber...that usually works for me but when it doesn't, I take Miralax too. My PA says that the Senekot-S is not habit forming.
