how do you know it's right?

Well, you know what they call the guy that graduated last in his class in medical school, right?  Doctor.

I guess I'm not clear on what's wrong with Flintstone vitamins...?  The ones that are used are the Flintstone Complete Multivitamins (including iron), NOT the gummies.  The dosing instructions on the normal bottle do include instructions for adults as well.  The program I'm in has us taking Flintstones 3x/day, and then we supplement with calcium separately.

Alternately, we can take bariatric vitamins.  We have a chart as to which vitamins to take how many times a day.

All that said, why have other people's programs said that Flintstones are bad?

I'd be interested in knowing that too. I was never told Flintstones were bad. Nor have I ever taken them. But I'm sure there's a good reason they aren't right for us. I'd just like to know in case anyone asks ME. Lol!

They are missing important things.  They have NO selenium or vitamin K.  They also have a type of vitamin A we don't absorb.

Because, although the word "complete" is printed on the bottle, they really are not complete.  Are you taking vitamin K, selenium, potassium and vitamin A (the type in Flintstones we can't absorb) separately as well as calcium?  What about B12?  You need that, too.

I am one fact smarter now. Thanks!

Before that simply fell under the "because my surgeon told me so" clause. Which I guess is what you're talking about in the first place. But somehow hearing you guys and Andrea say it also gave it validity in my mind. I should question more. That will be a New Year's resolution. :)

One of the most amazing things I noticed here on this site is that as WLS patients, pre and post-op, we begin to think for ourselves, and not just blindly take someone else's word for something.

I LOVE that!

I've had to move 3 times in the past 2 years, and every time I do I have to find a new PCP. The first thing I tell them is that I'm a bariatric patient, and I ask them how much they know about post-op bariatrics. It's amazing how much (or how little) some of them know. I also let them know I'm "doctor shopping", so they pay attention!!

Keep up the good work, Kelly. Not every wls patient is as lucky in their teams as "Enviousofangels" is with the "Perfect Team", although I sure wish there were more like hers around.

I think one of the most amazing things about WLS is how much it transforms us mentally and emotionally, not just physically.

I really have a lot of trust in both my surgeon and my PCP but I am not so foolish to think they have all the answers.  I read as much as I can on this site and make my list of questions before I go for a checkup.

When I hit a stall, you all are here to say keep it in perspective.  "Stay on the plan and ask your doctor questions".   When I get frustrated you all say   "Stay on the plan and ask your doctor questions".  Thanks to you all I will   "Stay on the plan and ask my doctor questions" !

Good Advice!  Thanks to all here that help
