Christmas CHECK-IN. What'd you eat today???

Interestingly, this was the first time post-op I went into Christmas planning to do whatever I wanted (this is my 4th post-op Christmas) and by far, this was the healthiest Christmas since my first!

I think the most eggregious part of my day was that I ate three pieces of scrapple (for folks outside the Mid-Atlantic, that's a pork product that you fry in oil. I think it has other names in other parts of the country.)

Here's what I had today:

1. "Christmas Eggs" (eggs scrambled with green/red peppers and onions with cheese), a few pieces of scrapple, half a biscuit with gravy (this was over the course of about three hours)

2. A super-duper chocolate protein shake (don't ask  me what made it super duper but the damn thing was magical tasting)

3. A bowl of homemade spicy chili and a small piece of cornbread.

Might have a small piece of almond bark before dinner but it was a very reasonable day!

breakfast was a vanilla Chike with pineapple chunks (juice not syrup)
dinner was - ham, turkey, green lima beans, green beans, deviled egg
I also made a pumpkin pie with splenda so I had about a tablespoon of that.

I'll have leftovers for supper. I'm a very exciting person.

It's one of those foods you have to put out of your head what it actually is. My girls loved it...until I told them what it is. Now no dice. I come from the generation who ate what your mom told you to eat and you didn't complain. So not sure if I always liked Scrapple or just acquired a taste for it. But I only eat it maybe once a year.

It happens. But you know what gets my attention? You didn't deny it, weren't defensive about it. You took ownership and resolved to do better.

You are awesome. That is all.

We actually celebrated yesterday, and I had the usual for dinner: turkey, a small amount of mashed potatoes (yes, WITH milk-based gravy), some great beans almandine, and half a crescent roll with some garlic herb butter.  No stuffing for me.  For dessert I had three small bites of just some of the apples out of a Marie Callender's Dutch Apple pie (her pies have an unbelievable amount of sugar and fat!) with a small amount of light Cool Whip.

Breakfast was scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, lunch was some Greek yogurt and some almonds, and my before bed snack was some string cheese and two dark chocolate Hershey's kisses.
