11 pounds in 3 weeks!?
Hi Christine. When I saw Zare' last Friday, I told him I was basically doing the same thing. He told me the first month or so is slow b/c you do still have some swelling & water retention. He told me just to focus on water & protein. I have increased my water ointake & bam lost another LB. You really don't want it to come off too fast, be patient. He said once our bodies settle down after the surgery, you will see more coming off.
I think what happens is before our surgery we hear from EVERYONE:
1. It's going to "fall off"
2. You won't believe how fast you are going to lose
3. Don't buy new clothes you won't stay in one size long enough.
It set's us up to expect something so DRAMATIC that we are disappointed. In the long term 11 lbs in 3 weeks is dramatic just do the math 11/3 = 3.67 x 52 = 190 lbs If you did that you would just be a pile of bones....Just be patient and keep eating/drinking right and you will be fine.

Just to add my thoughts:
I love the post about the three things we hear from others. I fell into that same trap because I was thinking 20 or 30 lbs. would just fall off. I am also 3 wks. out and I have not lost much more than you. I also got really down because my expectations were too high and because I stopped taking my depression meds. I wasn't able to mentally handle swallowing that big capsule. Also, emotions are all over the place after this surgery. You might be dealing with the loss of a friend, food, like I did. I knew all the possibilities going into surgery of head hunger, food addiction and other things but you really don't know what it will feel like until you go through it. I watch my family eat things that smell fabulous and sound really good. I actually tried a home made bean burrito (filling only) the other day because it sounded so good but it just didn't taste how I imagined. Our brains are such powerful tools but can become weapons if we aren't careful. I would encourage you to talk with a very trusted friend and adjust your perspective. It really does help, I had to do it. 11 lbs. is fantastic but if your sights are set too high then you will feel down and maybe even feel like you are doing something wrong. Remind yourself that this was a life-changing step you took and you are already a success just for doing it. You don't sound stupid or ridiculous. You sound human and I applaud you for getting on here and sharing your thoughts. Support is so important during this transition. Find good, positive support for yourself!
