Hi,

I had my surgery on 11/23 and went back to the surgeon yesterday to discover that I have lost all of nine pounds.  I was pretty bummed, but we went through my food journals and he informed  me that my 7-900 calorie diet was not nearly enough to sustain weight loss.  He said I need to eat 1200-1400 calories.

So, I'm working on eating MORE this week.  If anyone had told me such a thing would be my problem BEFORE surgery, I'd have laughed and told them they were full of crap. LOL

I think you are doing well for yourself.  Don't rush anything. It took you time to put on the weight, it's gonna take you time to get the weight back off.

Stay strong, and God Bless!!

Stay blessed and always encouraged.

my favorite saying is you didn't put it on in 1 day and its not going to come off in 1 day.

3-5 pounds lost in the beginning is great!!.  as you get further along it will go to an average of 1-2 pounds/week.

I was a slow loser. I lost a lot of weight in the beginning and then was steady with 1-2 pounds/week and that was with me exercising 4-5 days/week.

You'll have rapid and slow.  I have gone through stages where I'll go up 2-3, and then down 5-7...

After my initial big weight loss in the first 2 weeks after surgery, I averaged 5 pounds a month.  Now at 15 months out I'm excited by 2-3 pounds in a month.  Perspective is everything.  It didn't come on overnight and it won't come off overnight.

I'm sorry you're feeling upset by this. I know that when things go against our expectations that it can be frustrating. I urge you to consider the advice by others here, 11 pounds in 3 weeks is wonderful and you'll keep doing great!!! No two bodies are the same.

Congrats on your loss so far and just keep following the rules and you will do wonderful!

I had my surgery the same day and have only lost 2 lbs in the past 2 weeks.  That is fine with me.  I am in this for the long haul.  It's not a race.  We didn't get overweight overnight, so it will take time to come off.  Stay off the scale.  My MD told me not to look at the scale until I come in for my appts.

Also, bump up the activity if you can.
