I was not lactose intolerant prior to RNY. Immediately afterward I was. Severely. Now that i'm two plus years out its not so bad. I have been told that it can get better.

Good luck!

I highly doubt this is the problem, but some sugar free things have, and I'm not sure if I'm spelling it correctly, Surcralose or sucrose. It has been known to cause hynee-hurting issues.

I heard about the lactose thing too, but it could be some of your sugar free stuff too.  Also, to make a correction to the last post, you'll want to make sure they don't contain sugar alcohols, these can cause the runs and abdominal cramps in some people. Sucrose and Sucralose (Splenda) should NOT effect you negatively.

 Examples of sugar alcohol are:

  • Erythritol
  • hydrogenated starch hydrolysates
  • isomalt
  • lactitol
  • maltitol
  • mannitol
  • sorbitol
  • xylitol
